To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, DESIDER Lrer, a subject of the King of I-Iungary, resident of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Removable Window-Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in removable window brackets, and has as its" principal object the provision of means which may be extended outward from a window of ordinary construction and used for the purpose of cleansing the window, painting and the like.

Another object is to provide such brackets in forms which are relatively inexpensive to construct, strong and durable in their nature, and which may be applied and removed with entire facility.

These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure, in which Figure' 1 is a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of the invention and indicating the manner of its attachment to the window.

In the drawings, the window frame 10 is provided with a sill 11, having an inwardly extending, beaded, front edge 12 as is usual.

The adjustable holding means comprise a pair of hooks 14, having Shanks 15, in which are secured bolts 17, the threaded parts of which extend upwardly through slots 19 in the bars 20 and are provided with winged nuts 18 by means of which the bars are clamped to the shanks of the hooks 14, the bars 20 being formed integrally with a transversely disposed bar 21, having a longitudinal slot 22, and terminating in outwardly extending arms 23.

Openings 24 are formed in the bars 20 and arms 23," the same being registerable with similar openings' 34 formed in the platform 30 and reduced portions 31 Ythrough which may be passed securing bolts 35, as indicated more particularly in Fig. 3.

On the reduced portion 31 is receivable a plate 40 having openings 41, registerable with the slot 32, in the portion 31, and also with the slot 22 in the bar 21, thereby permitting the plate 40 to be moved laterally with respect to the platform 30, the plate being clamped in position by means of the bolts37 and nuts 38, two of which are used as indicated.

Secured to the corners of the rectangular plate 40 are flanges 42|, in which are rigidly engaged upright rods or tubes 44 provided near the center of their length with Ts 45, the upper ends being connected through double elbows 46 by the transverse bar 48, parallel with the rear edge of the plate 40, and from the other opening of the elbows 46, extend tubular bars 49 to the Ts 50, from which extend downwardly the other pair of supports 44, the extensions 51 being secured in the other opening of the Ts.

Engaged in the side openings of the Ts 45 are spindles 55, the same being secured to a plate 56, which, when in its downward position, rests upon projections 57 formed on the front pair of vertical bars 44 so that the plate may be used as a seat when desired, or swung on the spindles 55 into a substantially vertical position, whereupon the outer edge is engagea-ble with the spring clip 58 secured to one of the bars 49, thereby permitting a person to stand upon the platform 40 for such purposes as may be desired.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that a simple, eective device has been described which may be readily placed in engagement with a window and extend therefrom and upon which a person may stand or sit with entire safety, the upper element 40 and frame thereabove being slidable from one side to the other of the window as desired, thereby allowing easy access to all parts of the same. The arrangement of the hinged plate 56 is such that the window bracket may be used with greater ease than is common in devices of this class as the operator may sit or stand,I

and in either position is protected from falling by the bars 48 and 49.

Having thus described my invention and indicated the manner of its construction and application and use, I claim as new, and Cle-- sire to secure by Letters Patent l. A window bracket, comprising a pair of hooks adapted to be engaged with the sill of a Window, a frame adjustably engaged with said hooks, a platform carried by said frame, means for supporting said platform outwardly of said hooks, a plate secured to said platform, and means for adjusting said plate laterally on said frame.

2. An extensible Window bracket, comprising a pair of hooks engageable with the sill of a Window, Shanks formed on said hooks, arms engageable with said Shanks, said arms having a longitudinally disposed through-slot, a slot-ted bar integral with said arms and disposed transversely thereof, a support for said arms, said support being adapted to rest upon the sill of a Window, a platform engageable With said arms, said platform having a longitudinal recess registerable with the mentioned slot in said arms,

a plate slidable lengthwise upon saidy platform, and means for clamping said plate and platform in engagement. i
