One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a camera case of neat appearance and durable construction so constructl ed as to be moisture proof and to exclude all dust or grit from the interior of the case. A. further object is to provide a case of simple construction which is adapted to hold a camera and an extra'roll of films. A still further object is to provide a very durable case of simple construction and operation which can be produced at relatively low cost. Further objects will appear from the detailed description.

My case is composed of two telescopically7 connected sections. The lowersection 1 is formed from sheet aluminum, or other suitable non corrodible material. The lower end 1a of section 1 is of approximately .semicircular sha-pe in cross section and 1s provided with a concaved felt pad 2 which is adapted to support a camera within section 1. The upper section 3 is of. somewhat greater cross area than lower section 1 and extends a considerable distance downward about the upper portion thereof. This upper section 3 is provided, at its lower edge, with an integral peripheral flan e 4 which ts snugly about section 1. bove this flange, on the inner face of each wall 3a of' section 3, is secured a packin member. This member is formed from a tu ular strip 5 of leather which is riveted, or otherwise secured, to the inner face of side walls 3 lntermediate its edges so as to provide the upper elliptical member 5 and the lower elliptical member 5b. The lower 1'member 5b is provided with a filling 6 of felt, cork, or other suit-able material. The upper member 5 and the lower member 5b have their inner faces in substantial vertical alincment and are adapted,I when the upper section 3 is placed over the lower-section 1, to fit snugly about the lower section so as to provide a fluid-tight double closure therewith.
In the upper end portion of upper section 3 is .secured a lm receiving casing. This easing is formed of suitable blocks 7 which are secured together at their corners by double tongue and groove joints, and are firmly secured in section 3. These blocks form a rectangular chamber 8 which is adapted to receive a box containing a roll oit' films. Chamber 8 is closed by means of a door or Vclosure member 9 which is hingedly secured to the end block 10 as at 11. This door provided with a recess on which is slidablj mounted a securing bolt 13 the end of which engages into' a latch plate 14 secured to the under face of the end bar 15. By moving this bolt out of engagement with the latch plate the door 9 may be swung outward and downward about its pivotal axis so as to permit the roll of films tobe removed from the lm chamber 8. y
A packing ring or gasket 16 of soft rubber is secured to the underface of the' lm casin and is adapted, when the case is in closed position, to engage the upper edge of the lower section 1 so as to eiect a liquid tight closure therewith. By means of the 4packing members 5a and 5b at the lower end of the upper section, and the gasket 16 interposed between the upper end of the lower section and the inner face of the film casing, I insure that no moisture or dust, or the like, can. enter the casing. In addition, I provide a separate compartment for an extra roll of lms which is etfectually protected from moisture or dust, or the like. The upper section 8, likethe lower section 1, is constructed of sheet aluminum. This provides a light casing which is very strong and durable, and is of neat appearance.
A plate 17 is secured to the front of the lower section 1 of the casing and carries a casing or housing 18. Mounted in this casing is a bell crank 19 which is pivoted at 20. The upper end of the vertical arm of this bell crank is turned over'` to provide an integral hook 21. This hook is adapted to engage over a head 22 which extends downwardly from a plate 28 secured to the upper section 3. A tension coil spring 24 has one end secured to the vertical arm of bell crank 19 above its pivotal axis, and the other end secured tothe plate 17. This spring acts to normally hold the lvertical arm of the bell crank in operative position to be engaged bvhead 22 so that when the upper section of the casing is movedinto its lowermost position, the hook 21 engages over the head So as to secure these tw'o sections together.
The loweiI arm 19 of the bell crank extends through a slot 18a through one side of the housing and is rounded to provide a finger grip 25 by means of'which the upper `section may be released for opening the casing. The inward movement of theI verticalv arm of the bell crank is positively limited by a pin 26 positioned to engage the horizontal arm 19a thus insuring that hook 21 will, at all times, be in proper position to engage over the head 22 when the casing is in closed position.
For carrying the case, each of the sections 1 and 3 is provided, at each side, with a plurality of strap guides 27 secured thereto. These guides are adapted to receive a strap 28 which passes about the sides of the i casing and beneath the casing so as to support the same it is desired to open the casing, the bell crank 19 is operated so as to release head 22, after which the upper section 3 may be moved outward along the strap 28.
In using my case, the camera is placed within the lower section 1 which is made the proper size for this purpose, and rests on the pad 2. The extra roll of films is placed within the film casing so as to be readily accessible. Of course, it will be evildent that, by varying the dimensions of the casing it may be adapted for use in connecinthe usual manner. There may be slight changes made in the 60 construction and arrangement of the different parts of my invention without departing from the'field and scope of the same, and I intend to include all such. changes, as fall within the scope of the appended claims, in this application in which a preferred form only of my invention is disclosed.
What I claim is:
1. In a casing olf the character described, the combination of a lower section, an upper section adapted to fit snugly about the lower Section and to extend downward about the same, means carried by the upper section for effecting a fluid tight closure between the upper section adjacent its lower end and the lower section, a film casing carried by the uppersection, means for closing the inner end of the film casing, and a packing member interposed between the upper end of the lower section and the film casing for effecting a I'iuid tight closure about the upper end of the lower section.
2. Ar` casing of the character described having a. lower section, an upper section fitting snugly about the upper por-tion of the lower section, a film casing carried by the upper section, a door hingedly secured to thc underface of the film casing for closing the same, packing members carried by the upper section adjacent its lower end adapted to effect a fluid tight closure between the same and the lower section, and a packing member concentric with said door interposed be.-
