TICKET-HOLDER.
Specication of Letters Patent.
j Patented Jan. 1, 1918.
Application led September 29, 1918. SerialNo. 122,901.
To all whom t may concern:
Be itknown that I, ALICE CLARK, a' citizen of the United States, residing at Chase City, in the county of Mecklenburg and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
teners and more particularly has reference to a price ticket holder.
The primary aim and object of the present invention resides in the provision of novel means arranged on the ends of a flexible sign, such as a price ticket, for removably fastening the ticket to an article withthe ticket itself serving to hold the fastening means in position.
The invention, as an additional object, contemplates the provision of novel ticket fastening means whereby the ticket is effectively engaged and held so as to consequently facilitate the fastening of the ticket on a garment.
Among the other aims and objects of the invention may be recited the provision of a device of the character mentioned with a view to compactness, the number of parts of which are few, the construction simple, the cost of production low and the eiiiciency high.
Other improvements and novel details in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of the apparatus will be brought out more in detail in the description to follow, which, for a clear understanding of the invention, should be considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof, and wherein is disclosed, for the purpose of illustration, a convenient and satisfactory embodiment of the invention. It is to be noted, in this connection, that minor changes in the construction and arrangement of' the parts may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the principle of operation of the various parts.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on line 2-2 of Fig. l in the direction in which the arrow points.
Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken on line 3--3 of Fig. 1 in the direction in which the arrow points.
My invention relates broadly to sign fas-V and Fig. 5 is a perspective.
Similar characters of reference are employed., in all of theabove described views yto indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now, more particularly, accompanying vdrawings I provide 'a sign which may be and preferably is a price ticket 1 and along the respective ends of which are arranged my improved fasteners or holders generally designated by the numeral 2 for securing the ticket to a garment or other article 3.
In the present instance each of the fasteners or holders consists of a single strip of relatively fiat metal as indicated by the numeral 4, the respective ends of the strip being enlarged while spurs 5 are struck out therefrom and arranged t0 be engaged in the ticket l adjacent the upper and lower ends and the adjacent side. It is to be noted that the spurs 5, when fastened in the ticket, extend toward each other. Spurs 6 also extend laterally and in spaced relation to each other from one marginal edge of the strip and are adapted to also extend laterally from the edge of the ticket and engage the garment 3.
In use, I employ two of the fasteners and connect them, in the manner described, to the respective side edges of the ticket l so that the spurs 6 extend laterally of the side edges of the ticket. The spurs 6 of one fastener are engaged in the garment 3 in the manner indicated in the drawing while the flexible ticket is iexed so as to allow the engagement of the spurs 6 of the other fastener with the garment. It is to be understood that although the ticket itself is flexible, it is rigid enough to retain the spurs 6 in position subsequent to the flexing thereof. To remove the ticket it is only necessary to engage the ticket and bend or flex it intermediate the ends and at the same. time draw the spurs 6 of one of the fasteners from engagement with the garment 3 whereupon the spurs of the other fastener may be readily removed as is obvious.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall Fig. 4 is a rear elevation of my invention,
to the I be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. It is also to be understood that the language used in the following claim is intended to cover all of the generic and specific features of the invention herein described and allstatements of thescopeof lholder made from a singlepiece of flat material having an elongated body withspaced spurs formed on one lateral edge'near the ends of the body to removably engage with a ticket, andspaeedspurs struck up from the material -of the 4body adjacent its ends so vthatsaid latter spurs project from the body at right angles to thel spurs on the lateral vin presence of twow-itnesses.' v
