DISPLAY-FORM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 15, 1916. Serial No. 131,602.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOWARD G. BLUM- RICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Display-Form, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in boards used in displaying shirts and collars; and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide boards of different sizes upon which any shirt may be adjusted; second, to have said boards covered with felt, cloth or other like material so that the shirt may be fastened to it; third, to have upon this board a metal collar about which the neck of the shirt may be fastened; and, fourth, to have soldered to this metal collar a clasp, so that a linen collar may be placed about the metal collar and the flaps thereof slid into the metal clasp, thus causing the linen collar to be held firmly in place without breaking the button holes or otherwise injuring the collar.
I, attain these objects by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front view showing the parts assembled; Fig. 2, a section through Fig. 1, as indicated on Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a side view, broken so as to show the collar A and the hole F; Fig. l, a section taken, as indicated on Fig. 1, showing elevation of collar A, and clasp B, section through board B, metal edge E and flaps G of collar A, which fasten collar A to the board D; and. Fig. 5, a plan of the collar, showing the collar A, the flaps G and the clasp B.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
This invention is made up of seven principal parts which are designated on the annexed drawing as A, B, C, D, E, F and G.
D is the body of the invention and can be made of wood, cardboard, fiber board or compo-board and covered with felt, cloth or other like material. It is of the shape designated in Fig. 1 and of the thickness designated in Fig. 4. It will be manufactured of different sizes so as to fit the bosoms of clifferent size shirts. About the edge of the body D, there is placed a metal edging, marked E on the annexed drawing, tokeep the edge of the body D from warping, breaking or wearing. In the lower part of the body B, there is a hole F, through which the tail of the shirt can be drawn. Near the top of the body D is a metal collar A, which is fastened to the body D by means of flaps G, which are put through slots in the body D and bent over on the back of body D, thus fastening firmly the metal collar A to the body D. Soldered to this metal collar D is a clasp B, on the inside of which there is a small projection or teat,'marked C on the drawing.
The boards D and the metal collars A will be manufactured to fit any shirt and collar. The shirt and collar are displayed by drawing the shirt over the body D, the tail of the shirt being drawn through the hole F and the neck band of the shirt placed around the metal collar A and fastened under the clasp B. A linen collar is then placed around the metal collar A and the flaps thereof put into the clasp B, where it is held firmly in place by the clasp B and the teat C. This holds it in place so that it looks the same aswhen worn by a person and held in place by buttons and a tie. The shirt and collar canthen be removed and returned to the stock without having broken the button holes or otherwise in jured or soiled them. I
In reduction to practice, I have found that the form of my invention illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above description as the preferred embodiment is the most efiicient and practical, yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in details of construction,
proportion and arrangement of parts may.
Patented Jan. 1, 1918.
be resorted to, When required, Without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as defined in the appended claim.
I claim:
A display form for garments comprising a fiat support, the shaping of said support substantially conforming to the shape of a shirt when flat, said support having apertures therein, a collar display form having tabs connected thereto, said tabs being adapt- 10 ed for insertion in said apertures, and a clasp connected to said collar display form to hold a garment in position.
HO WARD Gr. BLUMRICK.
