Ytented certain gand useful. Improvements in Hose-Supporters, oh. which the following is {a specification. y ntmnfirelatesto;new andlusefui 1o in'iprove r'ifients in hosesuppprters and mate partrcu'l g a part of the suppcntencn H e obyect of theinvention. is'ito generally- M llai'lyti') design a hoseppoitel' button which will be. .scfft ih'nl flexible; and which further to design and construct the parts so as to enable them to be assembled and sepii r'ed together by a single 0 eration and wathout the employment of ad itional parts or material other than the button and plate, and finally to provide a construction which Twill enabi'e the button to be attached to the plate and by a single operation quickly.
th these and other obfiects in View the Z ntion resides and consists in the con- :struction and novel combination and ar- 3o riangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, ilibufstrated in the accompanying drawings. and pointed out in the claims lleffeitb appended, it being understood that Wait-ions changes in the form, proportion, size *iin'tl i ninor details of construction within the scene of the claims may be resorted to With- (Wit departure from the s irit or sacrificing any of the advantages 0 the invention.
Similar characters of reference denote like or correspondin parts throughout the sev eral figures of t e accompanying drawings forming apart of this specification, and upon which,
Fi. ure 1, shows a top plan view of a sheet 4 meta? blank, which has been stamped out in accordance with the requirements of my invention, and to which the button is attached.
Fig. 2, ghpws a side elevation of the button. 1 p efer'ring in 'deta'il to the characters of reference lna-rkedupon the drawing, A represents a base plate and B the button, which 'isprefei'r'ably formed of rubber and as will be noted-is .m'ade ofone solid piece and of? special size and shape.
';[lie'p'articular shape of this button will perhaps best be understood from Fig. 2 whereln it will be seenthat the sides of the head portion 10 tapers inward slightly from the top to thebottoin, thus forming the head wider through its upper top portion than through the lower or shank portion. This narrowest portion of the button comes near the bottom and adjacent to the flange l1, and which flange is of a slightly larger di ameter than the upper head part of the button.
The plate A to which the button B is attached is first stamped to farm the blank shown in Figs. 1 and 2". and this blank in turn is operated upon to secure it the shank of the button as will be later described. The blank in question is preferably formed slightly oblong and is provided with oppositely located circular slots 12 and 13 t rough which the web; 1% is threaded for the attachment of: the button. to the webbing. A central hole 15 is also formed in this blank and as will be noted from Fig. 1, is slightly elongated, being longest in the direction of the length of the blank. 1n the assembling for the completion of the article the flange and shank portion of the rubberbutton areshoved through the central hole 15 of the plate and are adjusted to an upright position with respect to the plate, as shown in Fig. 3. The assembled parts are then secured together by a suitable machine and with a single operation upon the plate. This operation forms a crease 16 and r b 17 transversely across the central port on 18 of the blank and in a way to materially reduce the size of the central portion and to close the edge of the hole 15 against the shank of the rubber button thereby securing the shanl; portion of th bu o al s the sewing at I shovvn'in Figs. 5 and;6,, theweb in? romplete hose supporter.
the plate by crowding it against the inner ends of the ribs formed upon the under side,
This operation Elsothiows ditttii-thFfios' ribs 17 on the under side of the plateto a. fullness about equal to that of t'h'' thickness of the flange portion of the button and in a manner to support and protect "the extended lower end of the same.
When the article is completel torn-led as "14 may be attached as seen in Fig 8 to Having thus described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent is p ,1. A garment supporter, EC-OIDPIlSlDgi a sheet metal base-plate having a holetherethrough; a button. set in the said holeand a rib-formed upon one side of the plate in line with the button to support the shank of the same.
2. A garment supporter, comprising a sheet metal base-plate having a hole there rm the through, a button set in the hole, a groove iormetl in one sigleoiflthe plate and a rib with the opposite side and both in line with button to hold the same.
