, IWIPROVEMENT IN MATCH-BOXES.
I, THEODORE OROMMELIN, of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Boxes for Containing Matches, of which the following is a specification:
at the same time to have a convenient box for matches.
This object I accomplish by making one side or flange of the box higher than the other, which higher side I penetrate with holes for the nail or other fastening. The box-can thus be easily secured at the side of any windowframe or doorjamb without being fastened to the wall. I make two kinds of these boxes, one with the right flange or side higher than the left flange or side, and the other with the. left flange or side higher than the right flange or side-the former to be used on the left side ofjambs, and the latter to be used on the right side of jambs, or as convenience may require.
In the drawing, Figure No. 1 represents the front view of my box made with the left flange or side b higher than the right. A side view of this box is shown by Fig. No. 2, the holes in the side or flange for the fastening being shown in this figure by the numbers 1, 2, and'3.
The dotted lines a in Fig. N o. 1 represent the construction of a box with the right flange or side 01 higher than the left flange or side.
These boxes can be made of wood, metal, or other suitable material. L in the figures represents the lid of the box.
Therefore, whatI claim as my invention, and what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A match-box, made with either side or flange b or at higher than the other, which higher side is penetrated with holes for the nail or other fastening.
