UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
SIMON PETERS AND CYRUS D. EISAMAN, OF PENN STATION, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-CHECKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,328, dated April 30, 1872.
Specification describing a new and useful Improvement in DoorStay, invented by SIMON PETERS and CYRUS D. EISAMAN, of Penn Station, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania.
The invention consists in a rubber spring having one or more flanges and a stop; also, having one or more flanges each of which is inserted from the under side of a bottom plate, in combination with a door.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a top view of the door-stop. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of Fig. 1 taken on the line a; a. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of Fig. 2 on the line y y.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is an oblong plate made of metal, wood, or any other suitable material, with holes B B through it, of slotted or other form, and recesses or rabbcts on its under side, around or partly around the holes. 0 is a spring, of molded India rubber, with a flange or flanges, D, on its under side, which are designed to fill the recess or recesses in'the plate, while the body of the spring is designed to fill the hole and project above the plate, as seen in Fig. 2.
E is a stop for the door, of rubber, made to fill one of the holes in the plate, and to project above it, with a flange, F, to till the recess around the hole, as seen in Fig. 2. The plate, with the spring and the stop inserted from the under side, as seen in the drawing, is screwed down to the floor near the wall in such a situation that, when the door is opened and swung back, the door will pass over the spring 0, and be kept from striking the wall by the stop E.
By this arrangement it will be seen that the door will be securely kept in the desired open position, and that all noise will be avoided.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The rubber spring 0 having one or more flanges D, and the stop E having one or more flanges F, each inserted from the under side of bottom plate A, in combination with a door, as and for the purpose described.
