a citizen of the United States, residing at J anesville,lin the county of Rock and State of 1560115111, have nvented certain new and useful Improvements 111 Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as willfenable others skilled in the art to,whichit'appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to toys, and par ticularly to a toy whose use partakes of the nature of a game.

The object of the invention is to produce a figure toy which may be placed in upright position upon a suitable supporting surface, and used as a target at which a ball may be thrown or bounced, an opening in the toy being adapted to receive an accurately directed ball. In connection with this in vention, it is also an object to provide a receivingreceptacle into which the ball may drop, and then falling upon a movable plat-- form will cause thedescent of the latter until the ball appears opposite a second opening through which it may return to the player. In order to add tothe interest of the game, the ball or figure may simulate the form of a caricatured human figure and may carry a pair of pivoted ar1ns,'which will swing outwardly by a mechanism connected to the platform when the ball drops upon the latter, this outward swinging of the arms serving to characterize a hit.

Vith the above objects in view and such others as may hereinafter appear, my invention will now be fully set forth and described. ference being had to the accompanying drawings.

,bars 5 which are provided at their upper and lower ends with the looped connecting arms 6, the looped ends thereof being passed through eyelets 7 entered into the figure above the upper opening 3 and below the lower opening 4. Also hinged to the board between the openings is a horizontal yoke or frame 8 which is mounted in the eyelets 9. The yoke is formed of a wire strand and has its ends downturned as at- 10, so-that while it may be folded upwardly against the figure, the extensions 10 will cause the yoke or frame to be normally positioned in horizontal relation to the figure when it is unfolded. The yoke 8 is provided with the recesses or notches llv'liicli correspond in number to the vertical bars 5 and receive the latter when the frame and bars are both extended, so that the interlocking elements 7 form a frame work behind the figure which catches and retains the ball as it comes through the upper opening 3, and drops toward the lower opening 4:. Mounted within the cage provided by the frame and bars is a vertically movable element12 which is preferably'shaped from a wire length and has vertical legs which are slidable in the guide 'eyes 13 and at its lower end is bent outwardly and upwardly to form a platform or basket upon which the ball may drop, a sheet of material 14 being mounted upon the basket in order to increase its extent and also to provide an incline which will turn the ball forwardly, so that as the platform is carried downwardly by the ball, the latter may roll out of the opening 4 as soon as the latter has reached a low enough level. It will be noted that the vertical legs of the element 12 lie on opposite sides of the opening 4 so that they do not interfere with the ejection of the ball when the latter reaches its lower limit. What I claim as my invention is 1. A- combined toyand game comprising in combination, a figure adapted to-be supported in vertical relation, and having upper and lower openings formed therein, a fold able cage hinged to the back of the figure and covering said openings, a platform slidably carried upon the back of the figure, and normally positioned between the openings,

and adapted to be carried downwardly to eject a ball through the lower opening, and means for returning the platform to its elevated position.

2. A combined toy and game comprising in combination, a figure adapted to be supported in vertical relation, and having upper and lower openings formed therein, a-

foldable cage hinged to the back of the fig ure andfcovering said openings, a platform slidably carried upon the back of the figure, and normally positioned between the openings and adapted to be carried downwardly to eject a. ball through the lower opening, and arms pivoted upon the figure and con nected to said platform, said arms swinging downwardly by the weight of a ball, and serving to return the platform when the ball is ejected. j

A combined toy and game comprisin in combination, a figure adapted to he stood in vertical position and having upper and lower openings formed therein, a series, of vertical bars hinged to the rear of the figure over said openings, means for locking said bars into a cage, :1. slidable element mounted upon the back of the figure betwe'en'the openings, a platform carried by said element and adapted to receive a ball and carry it downwardly to be ejected through the lower opening, and arms pivjoted upon the rear of the figure and connected to the slidable element, said arms being thrown outwardly when the platform descends and res turning the platform to elevated position when the hall is ejected from-'the platform.

4. A combined-toyand game, comprising in combination, a figure adapted to be supported in vertical relation, and having upper and lower openings formed therein, and a foldablecage on the back of the figure and inclosing the openings to guide a. ball. from the upper to the lower opening.

5. A combined toy and game, comprising in combination, a figure adapted to be sup ported in vertical relation, and having upper and lower openings formed therein and a slidableplatfornrmounted on the hack of the figure and positionedtoreceive a ball passed through the upper opening and dcliver it through the lower opening.
