Be it known that I, WARD Gr. CALLENDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in shoe cleaners and one object of my invention is the provision of an article for this purpose which may be portable to permit the cleaner to be used by hand and easily carried in the trunk or suit case.
Another object of my invention is the production of a portable device which will quickly and thoroughly clean the sole of the shoe and at the same time brush and polish the shoe with ease and efliciency.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a shoe cleaner which will be small and compact in size to occupy a small space;
which will be easy to use and thoroughly.
efficient; which will cost little to manufacture and which will be practical.
To attain the objects stated and such others as pertain to an invention of this character, my invention consists of a shoe cleaner embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as disclosed herein.
In order that the construction in detail, the manner of using and the advantages of my shoe cleaner may be fully understood, 1 have shown in the accompanying drawings, constructions embodying my invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a complete hand or portable shoe cleaner constructed according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a detail view partly in elevation and partly in section, to clearly show the parts of the device.
Referring by numeral to the drawings, in which similar characters of reference denote like parts in both of the views frame.
Around the arms and near the scraper plate 6, is fitted the pair of clamps 7, which engage and retain the shoe cleaning and polishing pads 8, said clamps and pads being secured in proper position by means of the screws 9, passing through the clamps and pads.
I claim 1. The combination with a yoke shaped frame having a handle and depending arms formed with base ends or heads, of shoe cleaning means secured thereon consisting of a scraper plate having its ends'mounted on said depending arms adjacent the base ends or heads, said scraper plate forming the base of the device, a pair of clamps fit- Y ting around the arms and near the scraper plate, cleaning and polishing pads in said clamps, and screws passing through the clamps and pads to secure said clamps and pads in proper position.
2. The combination with a yoke shaped frame having a handle and depending arms, of shoe cleaning means secured thereon consisting of a scraper plate, a pair of clamps fitting around said arms near the scraper plate, and cleaning and polishing pads in said clamps.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
