WITNESSES: A lNl/EA/TUH A T TOR/VE V Wr n s'raires wrarer orbu EDWARD MURRAY, F DETROIT, .MIOHIGAN.
ADJUSTABLE winioow-snann FIXTURE AND CURTAIN-POLE BRACKET.
mas er. I
To all whom it may concern i Be it known that I, EDWARD MURRAY, citizen of the United States, residin at Detrolt, county of WVayne, State of M ichi an,
have invented .a certain new and useful mprovement in Adjustable Window-Shade Fixtures andCurtain-Pole Brackets, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as .will
enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyin drawings, which form apart ofthis specification.
My invention relates to anadjustable window shade fixture and curtain pole bracket shown in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the following specification and claims. i
One'of the objects of the present invention is to provide a device simple and inexpensive in construction and operation and which may be readily attached to a window casing.
Another object of the invention is to provide for attaching the device to the opposing walls of a window casing instead of its outer face, thus relievin the more exposed face of the window casing of holes or an otherwise marred appearance, as a result of the removal of the fixture.
Another object of the invention is to provide for the adjustment of the brackets supporting the curtain roller that the latter may be removedfrom one window casing and installed on casings of varying width upon the adjustment of the bracket in the slotted way of the supporting fixture.
Another feature of the invention is to provide for the ready removal of the curtain pole bracket from engagement with the fixture supporting the roller bracket.
Another object is to provide for automatically locking the curtain pole bracket when assembled with the supporting fixture, that the parts may be secured against accidental dislodgment.
Another feature of the invention is that it may be readily constructed of sheet metal by suitable dies, thus materially reducing the cost of manufacture.
Other advantages and improvements will Specification of Letters Patent.
maybe made in the precise embodiment of the device herein disclosed without departing from the spirit of my invention.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification z+ Figure 1 is a perspective view of a sheet metal blank of the fixture for supporting the adjustable curtain roller bracket, and also the curtain pole bracket.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supporting; fixture as it would appear when finished. q a
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the adjustable curtain roller bracket andconnecting parts. V
Fig. 4, is a perspective tain pole bracket. i
Fig. 5, isa perspective view of the tie view of the cure vice with the several parts in assembled relation. 7
Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view on line 66 looking toward the curtain roller bracket.
Referring now to the letters of reference placed upon the drawings.
A, denotes a bracket supporting fixture preferably formed of sheet metal having one end A, bent at right angles to its body portion, which is provided with an elongated slot A". B, is a curtain roller bracket which may be also formed of sheet metal, having a flange B, provided with an opening 6, for the passage of a bolt G, extending from the back through the elongated slot A of the fixture. C, is a milled nut fitted to the bolt to secure the bracket to the fixture when properly adjusted. The margin surrounding the slotted opening in the fixture is preferably recessed as indicated at a, to receive a co-acting projecting portion Z2, formed in the flange of the bracket to insure the bracket against accidental rotative displacement when adjusted.
D, is a curtain pole bracket having an arm (Z, journaled in a bearing A", projecting above the upperedge of the supporting fixture.
The bearing A is provided with a groove or ridge portion a, to admit the lug d on the end of the arm d, of the curtain pole bracket ;-a portion of the bearing being cut away as indicated at a to permit the arm of the bracket D to rock slightly in the bearing that the lug cZ may overlap the edge of the ridge wall a, and bear upon the supporting fixture to support the bracket inproper Patented Sept. d, 1191?.
