WINDOW SHADE FIXTURE.
APPLIOATION-FILED JAN. 30, 1907.
' ZJZtnew e-s. v Inventor. 3%; @MWWW I r REUBEN D. MAYBERRY, OF FINDLAY, OHIO.-
WlNDOW-SHADE FIXTURE- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 21, 1907.
Application filed nuary 30,1907. $erial No. 354,790.
To ail whom, it Truly concern:
Be it known that I, REUBEN D. lVIAY- BERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Findlay, in the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window-Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in window-shade and curtain-pole fixtures, and consists in the novel construction of a combined window-shade and curtain-supporting device, comprising a single piece of sheet metal.
The object of my invention is to provide an efficient and inexpensive device for supporting window shades and curtain poles, and to provide such device with a convenient means of adjustment to suit various lengths of shaderoller without scratching, defacing, or injuring the window casing, and without removing the fixture from its mounting thereon. I attain this object by the mechanism hereinafter described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a view or out-line of a piece of material out of which my device is formed. Fig. 2 is a view of Fig. 1 after the device is formed. Fig. 3 is a view of the mate to Fig. 2.
This device may be made of any sheet metal of suitable thickness to insure the necessary strength and rigidity, and it may be made any size desirable; and any change in the dimension, size, outline, or minor details, within the scope of the claim, may be made without sacrificing any of the essential features of the invention.
In said drawing, wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts of my invention, the reference numeral 1 designates a vertical attachment-plate provided at its upper and lower ends with horizontal slots 2 and 2 This attachment-plate is adapted to be secured to the window casing by means of headed screws, as 3 and 3*, extending through the slots 2 and 2 The curtain-pole-supporting arm 4:,formed of the inner perpendicular body portion of the vertical attachment-plate and bent at 5 to form a right angle therewith, is provided with a curved seat 6 at its outer end for supporting the end of a curtain pole. The window-shade-supporting arm 7 is formed of a lug horizontally projecting from the outer edge of the side of the vertical attachment-plate about midway between its lower end and middle body portion; this lug or arm is bent at 8 to form a right angle to the side of the attachmentplate and provided with a recess 9 adapted to receive the spring actuated end of a shaderoller journal.
The Fig. 3 is formed in like manner as Fig. 2, except that the shade-roller-supporting arm 10 is located on the transverse side of the attachment plate and provided with a recess 11 adapted to receive and support the cylindrical end of a shade-roller ournal.
The device as shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 is designed to support a curtain pole and ourtain at a suitable distance from the window casing, and also support a spring actuated window shade roller. The device is further designed for adjustment transversely of the window facing for convenience in mounting window shade rollers of any length without removing the fixture from its fastening. This adjustment is effected by simply loosening the screws in the slots in the upper and lower ends of the attachment-plate and removing the fixture inwardly or outwardly to the required position, then again tightening the screws and the fixture will be rigidly secured in position. This adjustment may be made from either or both sides of the window. Thus it will be seen that I provide a useful device of novel construction and inexpensive to manufacture.
, Having thus fully described my invention, I claim:
A window shade fixture comprising a vertical attachment plate provided with horizontal slots running transversely of its upper and lower ends, a curtain pole supporting arm formed of the middle vertical body portion of said vertical attachment plate, a shade roller supporting fixture formed of a lug or projection at the side of the outer edge of said vertical attachment plate, and means of rigidly securing said window shade fixture in position on the window casing, substantially as described and set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
REUBEN D. MAYBERRY.
IVitnesses MERLE D. SoURs, PAUL C. Some.
