Be it known that 1, JOHN H. K-NAPP, .a citizen. of the .United States, residing at Black R-1V1,1Il the eountyof Jefferson and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade Brackets; and I do-hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andexaet description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled .in the art to which it appertains to make and usethe same.

This invention relates to improvements in shade brackets. a I

The object of this invention is to provide a shade bracket which may be quickly and readily clamped upon a window frame without marring the woodwork or'the use of bolts, brackets or the like and one that can be readily placed in positionand removed when it is desired to clean the window upon which it is fitted.

A further object of this invention is to provide a shade bracket which is so constructed as to compensate for various widths of window frames so that the same may be readily applied to Window frames of various sizes and the curtain shade placed in position.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a window shade bracket of this character which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction and one that can be manufactured and sold at a comparatively small cost.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claim hereto appended.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing, wherein there is shown the preferred form of my window shade bracket which comprises in its construction a pair of clamping members designated 1 and 2, the clamping members are constructed of fiat sheet metal openings 82 of the V Sewificeti of lett ate t lPatentedJnly 10, 19517. The curtain pole supporting .members are provided intermediate their ends with open- :in gs 8 which are adapted :to receivethe -.telescoping bar9 therein, the ends ofithe telescopingfbar 9 are rigidly connected in the portions 7 of the clamping members land-2. The spring permits the clamping members to be :spread relatively to one another Vito rfitin the frames of various sizes. A pair i-of-extensions :12 are pivotally connected at one end as at 13 and diverge outwardly to present an inverted v' shape'd member which has its extremeends bent angularly as at 14:, which angularly bent ends are pivotally secured to the outer surfaces of the portion 7 of the clamping members 1 and 2 as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing.

A curtain pole supporting member comprises a shank 15 having one end curved upwardly as at 16 which is pivotally connected to the pivoted ends of the member 12 intermediate the ends of the shank 15, the free ends of the shank 15 isprovided with a rectangular portion 17 which is adapted to engage the uppersurface of a window frame and thus prevent the clamping members 1 and 2 from moving downwardly when clamped thereon.

The inner clamping member 2 is provided with pintle receiving opening 18 which is adapted toreceive the pintle of a curtain shade roller therein thus permitting the same to be positioned transversely across the window sash when the device is in use.

When it is desired to use the preferred form of the invention, the clamps 1 and 2 are spread outwardly thus the device is fitted to a window frame on opposite sides of the window sash and the curtain shade roller is arranged therein and it can be readily seen that the device is readily adjustable to various size window frames and is held against downward movement by the member 17 engaging the upper surface of the window frame.

Referring to Fig. 3 of the drawing, wherein is shown a modified form of the invention which comprises in its construetion a pair of clamp members 18 and 19 which are [identical with the members 1 and 2 having the inwardly extending right angled extensions 20 which have the right angular extending portions 21 which portions are par-' allel' with the members 18 and 19, a telescoping bar 22 is connected by each of its.
