WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.

To all whom z'tmay-concem Be it known that I, HERBERT a citizen of the United States, residing at Coon Rapids, in the county of Carroll and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade Brackets; and I do hereby declare the fol lowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeand use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in window shade brackets.

The object ,of this invention is to provide a window. shade bracket which may beeasily and quickly applied to and removed from a window frame withoutthe use of fastening means and thereby eliminating any fear of marring the wood work of the sash frame.

A further object of this invention is to provide a window shade bracket which comprises in its construction a pair .of spaced members pivoted together and a window shade supportingarmcarried by the spaced members to permit the same to be readily and quickly clamped in the groove of a window sash frame.

A further object of this invention is to provide a window bracket of this construction, which will be simple, practical, and comparatively inexpensive in construction, and one that can be manufactured and sold W. SMITH,

at a comparatively low cost.

With these and other objects in viewthe invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of partshereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claims hereto appended.

An arm 5 formed of metal or any other suitable material and preferably rectangular in cross section is provided 011 one face near one end with the

1 and 2 permitting the members to be collapsed to be positioned in the ;groove of the window frame and by forcing the arm 5 downwardly the same will seek its normal position and firmly clamp the members 1 :and 2 into engagement with the walls of the grooves in the window sash construction.

Thearm 5 is provided at its outer end with an annular guide ring 8, which is rigidly connected to the end of the arm and has one wall spaced therefrom, the wall spacedfromthe arm 5 is provided centrally with an opening 9, through which is adapted to extend the screwthreaded bolt 10, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.

A supporting arm 11 is slidably mounted through the guide ring 8, and is provided with anelongated longitudinally extending opening 12 which is adapted to have the bolt 10 pass therethrough for holding this arm in adjusted position within the ring 8. Anut -13 isfitted on the inner end of the bolt 10 for holding this arm in adjusted position with relation to the arm 5. The inner end ofthe arm 11 is turned outwardly as at-14, to revent the same from being entirely withdrawn from the ring 8. The outer end of the arm 11 is bent angularly as at 15 and has rigidly secured to its outer end the guide ring 16, and extending centrally through the guide ring is the bolt 17 which is provided with a nut 18, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.

A shade supporting arm 19 is substantially L-shaped and has one of its arms provided with elongated openings 20, which arm extends through the ring 16 and its end turned outwardly to prevent the same from being entirely withdrawn from the ring 16.

The shorter arm 21 of the L-shaped member 19 is provided with a shade or pintle bearing receiving opening 22 adapted to re-' c-eive one end of the window shade therein supporting the same to a window.

It being understood that there are two of these devices used and the one shown is for the right side of the window and the one for the opposite side of the window will be identical in construction only applied to the-reverse side of the bar 5.

In use: The

1 and 2 are forced downwardly toward the outer end of the bar 5, and are placed in the groove in the window sash and the bar 5 is forced downwardly thereby spacing the

members

1 and 2 and firmly clamping the same between the stops 4 of the outer sash to firmly clamp the same in position, the arms 19 and 12 are adjusted to position the same in proper proportion to the window shade used, and the shad is then placed in position, and the device is ready for use.

What is claimed is:

1. A window shade bracket comprising a pair of spaced attaching members, means pivotally connecting the upper ends of the members together, and a shade supporting armpivotally connecting the lower ends of the members together, said means and arm permitting the members to collapse one toward the other to permit the same to be placed between the parting strips of the Window frame.

2. A window shade bracket comprising a pair of relatively spaced side members, a U-shaped member journaled in the upper ends of the side members, an arm having one end journaled to the lower end of said members, a ring on the outer end of the arm, a supporting arm slidably and adjustably mounted in the ring, and a shade supporting arm adjustably associated with the outer'end of the supporting arm.

A window shade bracket comprising a pair of spaced members havingbarrels at the upper and lower ends, a U-shaped member journaled in the upper barrels'of the members, a bar, pins arranged on one face of the bar at spaceddistances apart, said pins journaled in the barrels at the lower ends of the members to permit'the same to be collapsed, a guide ring at the outer end of th bar, a supporting arm slidably mounted in the guide ring, means extending through the guide ring and arm for holding the same in an adjusted position, the outer-end of said supporting arm bent angularly and provided with a guide ring, an

A window shade holder comprising a pair of relatively spaced attaching members, means-pivotally connecting the upper ends of the members together, an arm pivotally associated with the lower end of the members, and an adjustable shade supporting arm connected with the outer end of the first named arm, said shade supporting arm of the first named arm holding the attaching members in vertical parallel attaching position.
