UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EARL I1. KINCH, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO WATERBURY BUCKLE COMPANY, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
MARKING-TICKET.
Application filed March 31, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EARL L. KINCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Marking-Tickets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to marking tickets adapted to encircle the article to which one is applied and my object is the production of a ticket which will securely hold in place, be readily attachable or detachable and have a neat appearance.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a View of one form of my ticket, and Fig. 2 a View of the ticket of Fig. l on a piece of goods.
The ticket comprises a strip of suitable material, such as bristol board, foldable on itself at 1 and 2 forming the tabs 3, 4 and 5. A button 6 is secured near one end of the tab 8 with a slot 7 adjacent thereto. The tab 5 has an aperture 8 therein adapted to engage the button 6 with a snap-like action, the tab adjacent thereto being narrowed to form a tongue.
In use the ticket is folded around the web, strip, ribbon or other article 10, the aperture 8 snapped over the button 6 and the tongue 9 slipped into the slot 7.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 19, 1917.
Serial No. 87,942.
To assist in the snap-like action of the aperture in engaging the button the radial slots 11 may be punched in the tab adjacent thereto.
When the ticket is applied to solid, as distinguised from flat, articles the ticket is not folded but is wrapped around and secured as above stated.
I claim A marking ticket comprising a strip of material adapted to encircle an article to be marked, one end being narrowed to form a tongue, the other end being slotted to receive the tongue, the length of the slot being equal to the width of the tongue where the two intersect, a button on the strip adjacent to the slot, the strip being perforated at a point directly over the button when the tongue is in the slot, said perforation being adapted to engage the button.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
EARL L. KINCH'.
