COMBINATION WATER-BOTTLE AND SYRINGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 19, 19117.
Application filed July 10, 1916. Serial No. 108,402.
To all whom at may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT I. PARKS, a
citizen of the United States, residing at a Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain useful Improvements in Combination -Water-Bottles and Syringes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to hot water bottles and more especially to the class of combination hot water bottles and syringes.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character wherein the body thereof is preferably made from metal formed in two sections joined to each other through the medium of an overlapped seam formed at the meeting edges of said sections thereby producing a structure which possesses strength and durability thus increasing the longevity of the article.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character Wherein the body thereof is constructed in a novel manner so that a cage or container is removably heldtherein for receiving antiseptic material which is readily dissolved on the introduction of hot water into the body thereof, thereby preventing the cooling of the water should the same be placed within a separate receptacle and the antiseptic material dropped therein for the dissolving of the same within the water in the ordinary well known manner.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character wherein the construction thereof permits the converting of the article into either a hot water bottle or fountain syringe.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character which is simple in construction, neat, attractive in appearance, compact, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purposes and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claims herein appended.
In accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a combination water bottle and syringe constructed in accordance with the invention the body being partly broken away.
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation thereof.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary enlarged vertical longitudinal sectional view through one corner of the body.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3 through the other corner of the body.
Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the cage or container for the disinfectant.
Fig. 6 is an end elevation thereof.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts' throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the combination waterbottle and syringe comprises a substantially rectangular shaped hollow flattened body A, preferably formed in two sections 5 and- 6 respectively which are connected together through the medium of an over-lap seam 7 at their meeting edges, the seam being formed in any approved manner so as to avoid any possibility of leakage at the joint, of the sections. The body A is preferably made from metal although the same may be made from any other suitable material giving strength and durability thereto.
Two opposed corners of the body A are flattened in contra-distinction to the remaining two rounded corners of the body to present inset diagonal corners 8 having formed therein exteriorly threaded annular necks 9 on which are detachably fitted removable caps 10 which are internally threaded to engage the threaded necks and in each cap is carried a resilient disk 11 forming a washer so as to afford a tight joint when the cap is applied to the neck to avoid leakage therethrough.
At one side of each neck 9 and integrally formed with the body A or mounted thereon is an eye 12 to which is connected a retaining chain 13 the same being also connected in any suitable manner to the cap 10 so that on the removal of the latter the same sepzu'aied 5i inched or will not become secured upon the outer sides of said flat and holding said receptacle in place and for faces, a reticulated receptacle fitting engagement with the open end of said nipthrough the opening of said upper flat face plc to seal the same. 10 and projecting into the hollow body, a nip- In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. 5 ple secured to the lower fiat face within said ROBERT I. PARKS.
flange, and caps detachably mounted on Witness: said flanges for sealing the upper flange J. Ross CoLHoUN.
