IMPROVEMENT IN TASSELS FOR MUFFS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,808, dated January 1G, 1872.
To all to whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL BRODY, of the city and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Tassels for Mui's and the following is declared to be a correct description thereof.
In Letters Patent heretofore allowed to me, and Which is expected to issue under date of October 3l, 1871, a removable muiitassel is shown, the same being secured by a loop that is passed around the cord at the end of the muli' and then over a button on the tassel. My present invention is a modification of this device, whereby a stronger and more reliable attachment is obtained. I make use of a metallic spring-hook, through one end of which the cord of the tassel passes, and the other end forms the spring-hook to catch over the cord of the mutt-lining; and this spring-hook is covered, when applied to the mun", by an ornamental bntton applied at one side thereof.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a rear view of the tassel and spring-hook. Fig. 2 is a side View of a portion of such tassel.
The tassel a is to be of any desired size or shape, and the cord b of said tassel is passed through an eye at one end of the small springhook c. The mouth of this hook and the spring-tongue thereof are of any usual character, and this hook is passed over the cord at the end of the muff, and secures the tassel firmly in place, but allows of its easy removal from the mud when said muft is not in use; and by this improvement any desired tassel can be applied to the mui When required. The ornamental button e is attached to the cord b and to the side of the hook c, so as to prevent the hook being visible when the tassel has been attached to the mu.
I claim as my invention- The muitassel, provided with a spring-hook, c, attached to the tassel, as and for the purposes set forth.
