CONTAINER FOR MUCILAGE.
Application filed. October 7,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY J. PRENO- sin, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dwight, in the county of Butler and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Containers for Mucilage, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to containers, and more particularly to a container for mucilage and the like.
One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated so constructed as to prevent gumming of the mouth of the container such as occurs in the ordinary glue or mucilage bottle.
A further object is to provide a container having a closure member so constructed and mounted as to act as a supplemental container when in operative position.
Further objects will appear from the detailed description.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a top plan view of the container with the closure member in open position.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 22 of Flg. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 showing the position of the cover and U-strip when The body 1 of the container is of approximately rectangular horizontal cross section and of irregular polygonal vertical cross section. The under front wall of this member is inclined downward and inward at an angle, as at 1". The bottom 2 is made much thicker than the rest of the body of the container so as to provide sufficient weight to maintain the container in upright position and avoid tilting of the same.
The container is provided with an integral upwardly extending neck 3. A U strip 4 of metal is secured about the upper end of this neck. A cover or closure memher 8 is secured to the back bar of the U strip by means of an integral downwardly any other suitable manner to the inner face of back bar 3*. This cover is of rectangular shape underneath and is concave in transverse cross section. The cover 8 is formed of sheet metal and is of such size as to fit snugly over the neck 3, for which purpose it is provided with flange 8 When in open position the under Specification of Letters Patent.

or inner face of the cover forms a continuation of the inclined front Wall 1 of the container, and is flush, at its lower edge, with the inner face of back bar 3f of U strip 4. In this position the concave adapted to receive and temporarily retain mucilage which is caused to flow from the container by tilting the same forward and downward. When the container is thus tilted the mucilage will flow cave cover 8 and will be retained thereby, the cover thus constituting a temporary supplemental container. mucilage which is held by the cover is readily accessible thus eliminating the necessity of passing 7 a brush into and out of the container neck as is done in containers of the ordinary construction, thus eliminating the chief source of mucilage becoming spilled or smeared about the mouth ing a collection of hardened mucilage about the same, commonly termed gumming. After the desired amount of mucilage has been used the container is returned to its initial position. This causes contained by the cover to flow back into the container, after which the U strip 4 may be removed from neck 3 and the memher 8 placed about the neck so as to tightly 8 are so relatively disposed that, when the cover is placed over the neck the strip is parallel with, and closely adjacent to, the under face of the inclined front wall 1. In this position loosen the cover or cause its removal from the neck 3.
What I claim is:
1. In containers, a body having an up wardly and outwardly inclined neck and 95 front wall, and a concaved supplemental container mounted at the upper edge of the front wall of the body and forming a continuation thereof whereby, when the body is tilted inward the contents thereof will 109 flow into said supplemental container, and when the body is returned to its normal position the contents of said supplemental container will drain back into the said body.
2. In containers, a body wardly and outwardly inclined neck and front wall, a concaved supplemental container mounted at the upper edge of said front wall and forming approximately a thereof, said cover is well into the conof the container and cans 7 the mucilage The U-strip 4L and cover the strip has no tendency to having an upppl mental 11o mental container in operative position ad jacent the upper edge of the front wall of said body.
3. In a container of the character described, the combination of a body having anoutwardly inclined neck and a similarly inclined front wall, a U strip secured about the upper edges of the said neck and the being adapted to inclined front Wall of the body, and a concave closure member secured at its lower edge to the said 1U strip, said cover member fit snugly about the said 15 neckso as to effect a tight closure therewith. In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
