COMBINED S'IOVE AND TABLE.
Specication of Letters Patent.
applieetien med september 4, 1914. serial Ne. 860,230.
To all whom t may concern Be it` known that I, CHRISTOPHER C. MlLEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Westover, in the `county'of Somerset and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Stoves and Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andI exact`description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to.which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a combined stove and table and has for its object to provide a table having a hinged top and a heating apparatus arranged in spaced'relation under the top for use as a cook stove.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a ydevice of this character embodying a slidable drawer adapted to be withdrawn and swung downwardly in position to support the rear portion of the table.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and the formation of parts, as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which, x
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the table, showing the top in open position,
Fig. 2 represents a transverse sectional view therethrough,
Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal sectional view therethrough,
Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of the supporting bracket for the burner, and
Fig. 5 represents a perspective view, partly broken away, of the removable drawer.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 6. indicates a pair of supporting legsA for supporting the front portion of the table including the side boards 7 to which the upper ends of the legs are secured. A plate 8 having downwardly directed edges 9 is secured by rivets or the like to the inner faces of the side boards 7 in spaced relation to the top edges of the latter. A top 10 is hingedly secured at 11 to the rear side board 7 in which is slidably mounted a drawer 12, A drawer 12a is slidably mounted beneath the plate 8 and is provided witha pair of angular arms 12b secured to the rear member 12c thereof and adapted to engage within suitable notches are fitted the short formed on the inner face of the rear side board 7, when the drawer is pulled out and swung downwardly, to support the rear portion of the table in position, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 2. If desired, the drawer maybe slid inwardly beneath the plate 8 forcontaining kitchen or other utensils, and in this position the rear portion of the table is supported upon a windowsill, sink or other suitable support.
A heating drum 11 is removably positioned within an aperture formed centrally and adjacent the front edge of the plate 8 and is provided with an imperforate top 12 and an open lower end 13. A pipe 14 is positioned diametrically through the drum 14 below the plate 8 and is cutaway at its under portion within said drum to provide an opening 15. `The pipe 14 eX- tends longitudinally of the table and the opposite closed ends thereof are formed in their top portions with apertures in which pipes 16 communicating the pipe 14 with the chamber 17 between thlelplate 8 and the top or .cover 10 of the ta e.
A bracket indicated generally by the numeral 17 is provided with an angularly directed end 18 secured inthe front board 7 of the table and is provided with an oifset portion 19, the lower extremity thereof being coiled as indicated at 20 in a horizontal plane to provide a support for a burner 21 projecting upwardly into the opened end 13 of the drum 11 and directly under the opening 15 of the pipe 14.
As illustrated in Fig. 1, the top 10 may be elevated and the burner 21 lighted to heat the plate S'and top 12 of the drum 11 for cooking purposes. The heated a'ir from the burner also passes through the pipe 14 and the short pipes l'exhausting through the upper open ends of the latter. When desired, the top 10 of the table may be lowered, subsequently to extinguishing the burner 21 and the device used as a table.
What I claim is:
1. In combination, a body, supporting legs therefor, a plate secured in said body in spaced relation to the upper edges of the "Patented May i, mit.
latter, said plate having a large central Y flange overlying andl engaging theiupper edges of said plate, thereby supporting said e drunln and a burner arranged lnsaid drum to het said over. bd v 2. n com ination a y sup ortin le s therefor, 4a plate secured said bod gn spaced relatlon to the upper edges o the I' latter, said plate havinga large central opening formed therein, a drum having an open bottom, a cover formed integral with said drnm and crimped forming a horizon-l tally disposed flange, a 'rod secured to said Intestilnon
