lio known thai l; iluminan ioryn subject oi the King oi ll'nngu'yT residing' :it Furnace lnn, in the county of Armstrong' :unl Stato of Pennsylvanie, hoveinvented certain new und useful improvements in ialliage-lieeeptneles, of which the following; n specification This invention relates to certain new andv useful iniprovenionts in garbage receptacles.
The primary ohjeet of the invention is the provision of :i receiver for garbage and other waste nmtter which sanitary und remlily operable in bothV the reception as Well :is the discharge of che refuse.
A further obje-:zt oi the device is the provision of n receptacle having' o norn'nilly closed bottoni' outlet nieinher arranged with n releasing' means whereby the Contents of the devise ontoinatiooliy eiieets a discharge thereof upon its release? o selclosingy,r reireiving; entrance means being' oise 'tir-ranged.
`Witii 'these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention better understood, the saine con sists in the novel construction, combination und arrangement of ports hereinafter more fully desci'ihed illustrated in vthe ooocn'n` ponyinf; drawings, and their oloinied.
fin 'the drawings forming e port of 'this :application and in which iilre designating ehorocters to corresponding; ports throughout the several vievvsz-Fignre l is iront elevation of the device partially shown in verticoi transverse section. Fig. is o vertioei sectional view thereof teken upon line of Fig. S is ton pion view of the seine, and, "Fig, i is on enlnrged sectional detail view of the edjeoent edffes of the bottom doors when closed.
The present device being designed for the recep'eion or refuse, the saine includes o re oeptoele or receiving easing 1G here illus tinted substantially ouloiei in form having oli-set supporting legs il positioned adjacent each of the four lower corners thereof, side handles j being; provided for moving' ihe device when found desirable.
A receiving' hopper 13 is arranged upon the top lll of the easing' l0 having a forwardly positioned open side or doorvvay l5 normally closed by ineens of s swinging' 'door' i6 pivoted as at 17 kto the seid hopper et the upper edge of the door. Closing springs i8 are provided sultehly tensioned between the inner ieee of the door i6 and '10, the door i6 is pushed inwardly against the eetion of the springsl@ whereby the matter inserted 'through the door opening' L5 felle into the easing 10 through the openingy 21 in the top thereof.
Trap doors 22 constitute the bottoni oi the casing 10 loeing hinged as et 23 to the opposite wells thereof, the oiiset portions of the legs ll allowing the swinging; doors 22 to move to their open positions substantially vertically arranged as illustrated hy dotted lines in Fig. l. A rubber binding strip 25 is carried by the inner edges oir each of the doors 22 adopted for contacting eseh other when the doors are closed `forming an oir-tight joint between the doors es Well as assisting' in preventing any escape of odors from the casino l0.
A tube 26 is mounted upon the casing top i4 slightly inclined rearwardly through which en operating screw 27 freely extends, o turn not 28 being threaded upon the outer end of the screw 27 and 'bearing against the outerend of ehe tnhe 26 whereby the said screw is fed outwardly and inwardlyV as required. An operating' handle 29 is provided upon the nut 28 While the screw 27 hes its inner end projecting thron h on opening 30 in the casing top le. A dexihle connector such as o cord 3i connects each of the doors 22 with o ring 32 :it the inner end of the screw 27.
The operation of the doors 22 it will he understood is controlled hy means of the screw 27 which is normally held projected hy means of the nut 28 with the Cords 3i in their tout positions, the doors 22 being on ranged horizontally in o position. to support the entire contents of the easing l0. Upon turning the nut 28 in the desired direction, the screw 27 is lowered allowing the Weight of the doors 22 :is Well as the refuse positioned thereon to forcibly open the said hoo ioni doors7 allowing the contents of the casing l0 to pass outwardly through the bottom of the/casing' to be removed in any Inanner desirable.
lt will be "understood that the device when 7 filled may be readily carried by means of its handles 12 to a, convenient location 'for dumping whereupon the :loom 2L may be openel and me contents or rho easing 'l0 remo l after which the device muy be re-- turned to its; original location for fur-Eher use.
What l claim as new is l. A garbage receptacle comprising :i easing having bottom members hinged ro the opposie sides thereof :Arranged horizon tally when in their nornml closed posltioi'i, supporang legs for the casing having o set portions adopted for the accommodation of the said floors when in their open. sul)n Stontially vertical position, and releasable Closure maintaining Ineens for the seid door.
2. A garbage receptacle Comprising n oas,- ing having bottoni members hinged lo the opposite sides thereof arranged, horizontaily when in their normal closed position supporting legs for the casing having off-set porbions adopted 'for the aoconnnodation of the seid; doors when in their open Substantially vertical position5 e tube ohliquely positioned upon the said casing, a screw freely @monding through the said tube projecting inwardly of the engin?, flexible connections between @he inner end of the screw and 'lle sell/ oorssE and an. :Adjusting not upon the ll garbage reoemlolo comprising u cosing.y n hopper upon the said casing having :l forwardly arranged door opening, u swinging closure door provided for the sind open'- ing hinged adjacent the top of the hopper` cloning springs for the nifl door tonbzlonorl between the lutter and the opoosite re-nr/ will of the hopper, bottoni outlet (lool-s upon the Suid cosine, und adjustable supporting menne' for `the Suid door4 arranged ohliquely reurn'nrrlly of the said hopp r.
Ll'. ,l gnrlmoe receptacle ooniprinng a ezaning'` n 'receiving bonner upon the top of the Suhl 'asino7 un nnonmioally closed entrance door for the said hopper, contents supporting bottom doors hinged to the sui/rl mising, resilient binding nienilier upon he adj comb edges olf the said bottoni doors in soot- 'ingf Contact with each other when the sunlloottom doors are in their normal horizontnl closed positions, und adjusting' means for 'the Said bottoni doors operable rearwardly of and in n plane Above the said hopper.
