Be it known that I, SIMONN. GAZAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Savannah, in the countyiof Chatham and State of Georgia, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eye-Shields for Head-Coverings, of which the following is a specification. Y Y

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in `eye-shades or eye-shields, and has for its object to provide a device adapted for all headgear not provided with a fixed brim, vizor, or peak, particularly the fez, and affords a suitable and efiicie'ntshade or shield from the sunlight, which device is of exceedingly simple, durable, practicable and economic construction, the special object of the invention being the detachable and concealable features of the' shade-piece, which may be fastened "within the fez when notgoperative as a shield, and when so fastened is not visible from the outside and does not interfere with the comfortable wear-V ing of the'fez, and the shade is always handy andready for immediate use as 'a shield or shade for the eyes, and which `device is facile, efiicient and economic and represents an improved result in detachable orldisappearing eye shades.

The invention consists primarily in a crescent-shaped eye-shade or 'sun-shield, made of Celluloid, cardboard, leather,felt, aluminum or other light exible and durable material, having at each end, and in the middle if desired, an eyelet, snap-fastener or pressureclasp which may besnapped or attached to thecorresponding part of such fastener affixed tothe interior of thefez. Any suitable form of fastener may also be employed for the purpose of carrying into effect the objects of the invention.

A practical Aembodiment of the invention is shown .in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification. and this embodiment will be specifically described, without, however, intending to limit myself to such specific embodiment, as the form of thefasteners maybe altered or changed `without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention claimed.

In the drawings Figure l is a view in front elevation of a fez equipped with an eye-shield in accordancewith my invention, the eye-shield being shown in the operative position. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a fez equipped with an eye-shield in accordance with my invention, showing' the eye-shield in dotted lines in the concealed or inoperative position, and, Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view of a fez in a flattened condition showingfthe eye-shield in full lines in operative position, and by dotted lines the manner in which the shield may be swung either to the right or left to concealed or inoperative position.

On the drawings, F indicates the fez and Ethe eye-shade or shield, X, Y, Z` Z the fasteners, which for the purposes of the invention are'preferably of the two-part type, one part or member having a detachable interlocking engagement with the other part or member. e On the interior of the fez, and about half an inch from the edge or rim thereof, are fixed either the male or female members of the fasteners, being thecorresponding parts of the fastener members that are on the eyeshade, so distanced and placed as to evenly meet, articulate therewith, and accomplish a fastening or clasp when properly brought together. Three of these fasteners, as Y, X, Z or Y, Z, Z will accomplish the objects of the invention, the fastener Y or Z respectively in Vaddition to its serving as a fastener, also acting in the capacity of a pivot, on which the eye-shield or shade E is swung from operative to inoperative position, or vice versa. The use of an additionall fastener as X or Z as the case may be provides merely that the swung either to the right or the left on its pivot Y and secured in the concealed inoperative position. i
