,improvements in vanity boxes, the primary object of ray-invention being the provision of a vanity box adapted. to lockingiy and detachably receive a rouge holding pad in such a manner that when the rouge has been used from the pad, the empty pad may be removed and replaced by a fresh one.

A still further object of my invention consists in providing an' anchoring means for the pad of such a nature that the box may be economically manufactured and yet durable in construction.

Another object which I have in view is the provision of box having a hinged cover in which the hinge is struck out wholly from the box and not separately formed and in which the hinge is so arranged that the cover, in open position, is supported vert cally or substantially so. With a box of this type, 1 preferably mount a mirror in the cover as it W ll be readily accessible ior use, due to the position in which the cover is supported when the box is open.

With these and other objects in view, my invention will be more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and then specifically pointed out in the claims which are attached to and form part of this application.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is: I 1. A vanity box including a box body having a marginal wall formed with indent. tions providing interiorprojections, and a rouge holding pad having an upwardly and inwardly directed marginal wall adapted to be engaged beneath the projections, whereby the pad is anchored in the box. loo 2. A vanity box including a body open at its ends and provided at its lower end-with an inwardly dire oted annular flange and provided in spaced relation above thefian'ge with indentations providing inward projections, a removable bottom forming element seating within the body of the box and resting upon the flange and a rouge holding pad having an upwardly and inwardly directed marginal wall positioned within the box, the pad having, its marginal Wall engaged beneath the projections and being thereby anchored in place and against the bottom forming element to hold it in place.
