Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed February 15, 1916. Serial No. 78,464.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORVILLE K. REYNOLDs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muskogee, in the county of Muskogee, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Burglar-Alarms; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a burglar alarm.
An object of the invention resides in the provision of an alarm for use in banks, which alarm is applied to the coin rack so that when the coins are removed from the rack a bell will be sounded.
A further object of the invention resides in so constructing the device that the operation of the same will be automatic upon the lifting of the coins from the rack.
A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of novel means for closing the circuit.
With these and other objects in view, such as will appear as my description progresses, my invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts as set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view showing the arrangement of the circuit closing switches; Fig. 3 is a section taken at right angles to Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 is a diagrammatic view of the Wiring.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in the drawing, I have illustrated a coin rack which includes a base 1 and a body portion 2, in which body portion a plurality of open pockets 3 are formed for the reception of coins of different denomination. Mounted beneath each of these pockets is a pair of springs 4 and 5 each of which is provided with an arcuate portion on its upper end, which portions are oppositely curved. Connected to each of the springs 4 is a line wire 6 and mounted adjacent each of these springs is a contact 7 which is connected to a line wire 8. These springs 4 and 5 of each pair are normally separated so that the spring and the contact 7 will be separated by a push-button 9 which extends through the bottom of the adjacent pocket 3 and between the arcuate portions of the spring, being held in this position by the weight of the coins in the pocket. Upon the removal of the coins from the pockets, these push-buttons will be forced upwardly so that the spring 4 of each pair will engage the adjacent contact 7 and close the circuit through the wires 6 and 8, which circuit includes a relay 10 and a switch 11, which switch may be manually actuated to open or close the circuit so that the push-buttons 9 may be rendered operative or inoperative. The circuit includes also a source of electrical energy 12. A second circuit which includes a bell 13, a source 14 and wires 15 and 16 is provided, the wire 15 being connected to a contact 17 and the wire 16 to a contact 18 which is pivoted at 19 and forms in fact the armature of the relay 10 so that upon the energizing of the relay the contacts 17 and 18 will engage and the circuit in which the bell 13 is included will be closed so that the bell will be sounded.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that when the switch 11 is closed and the coins are lifted from any one of the pockets 3 the circuit in which the relay 10 is included, will beclosed and will in turn close the circuit in which the bell 13 is included andsound the latter.
While I have illustrated and described a particular embodiment of my invention, it has merely been for the sake of convenience and I do not Wish to be limited to that particular embodiment as it is obvious that numerous changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In a device of the class described, the combination with a base, of a body'portion having a plurality of vertically extending pockets therein, a plurality of pairs of springs arranged beneath the pockets, push-buttons extending through the base and between the springs, a wire connected to one spring of each pair, a contact adjacent each of the last mentioned springs, a Wire connected to In testimony whereof, I aifiX my signature, each of sald contacts the ends of the Wires 1n the presence of two wltnesses.
