Be it known that I, VERNON C. SNYDER, a citizen of the United States, residing in Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, Improvement in Containers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention" relates in general to containers and has more particular reference to containers comprised of a fibrous body with metal ends or closures.

A'further object of the invention is the provision of a container of this character provided with a screw cover, the body and so constructed and arranged that shrinkage of the body which, in accordance with my invention is of paper or other fibrous material, will not cause it to become loosened from the cover.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a container adapted to be used as a mailing tube which will be of minimum the strengthdesired and which will consist of a minimum number of readily constructed and cheaply providable parts.
Other objects and advantages of the ill-- vention will be apparent as it is better un derstood from the following description when considered in connection with the ac companying drawing illustrating a pre ferred embodiment thereof.
On the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one end of the container embodying my invention showing the cover in place. Fig. 2 is a'similar view of the body with the cover removed. Fig. 3 is a similar view'of the cover; and Fig. t is a vertical section taken centrally through said container. o For the purpose of illustrating my invention I have shown it on the drawing'embodied in a body 10 closed at its bottom 11 in any suitable fashion and provided at its top with the screw closure 12. The body 10 is composed of paper or other fibrous material and is of cylindrical form, gated, as shown, if desired.

The pressure exerted in the formation of these threads is sustained by some fiat or smoothly curved pressure member (not shown) so that the outer face of the body at this end and opposite these threads is smooth, as seen at M in Fig. 4. vThe screw closure or cover 12 has corresponding threads 15 for engagement with the threads 13. The threads 13 and 15 are preferably large and widely spaced, this being rendered desirable by the compressed formation ofthe threads in the body. In the present instance the closure or cover 12'is provided with a false wire bead or edge 16 which rests upon the upper end of the body when the closure is in place and provides a convenient grip for unscrewing the cover.
If desired slots 17 adapted to be engaged by any suitable tool may be provided through this bead 16 to aid in unscrewing the cover should such aid be necessary.
Since the edge of the fibrous body is disposed without and about the screw cover, any shrinking of the material forming the body will merely serve to draw it into more tight engagement with the cover and there is therefore no loosened through shrinkage of the parts. When thus arranged also the cover aids materially in maintaining the screw threads in the end of the body.
The entire container is of simple and economical construction and inasmuch as no metal thread carrying member is necessary for engagement with the cover, the weight is materially less than Where such member is provided. It is thought that the invention and many of its attendant advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it will be apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described being merely a preferred embodiment thereof.
