ANGELO TESORONI, 0F NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO SLOAN & COMPANY, OF NEWARK, NEW' JERSEY, A CORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
BRACELET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 2i, 1916.
Application filed J'une 2, 1316. Serial No. 101,227.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, ANGELO TnsoRoNI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Bracelets, of which the folle-wing is a specification.
This invention relates to a bracelet of novel construction, which is of attractive appearance, possesses superior iieXibility, and may be readily assembled.
ln the accompanying drawing z-Figure l is an outer face view of a portion of a bracelet embodying my invention; Fig. 2, an inner face view thereof; Fig. 3, a side view partly in section; Fig. l a cross section; Fig. 5, a detail of one ci' the blanks; Fig. 6, a perspective view of the blank after being bent Fig. 7, a perspective View of one of the staples, and Fig. 8, a side View on a smaller scale, showing the bracelet complete. llhe body of the bracelet is composed of a series of links, and of a series of staples connecting the links.A Each link is hollow and of oblong form, being so bent as to form an outer section l, a pair of parallel side sections 2, and an inner section 3. The outer section l, is arched, and of a length constituting the width or" the bracelet, so that when the parts are assembled, the convex edge of any one link will be opposed to the concave edge of the adjoining link, thus producing an attractive sealy appearance. The sides 2 of the links correspond in length to the thickness of the bracelet, while the inner section 3 parallels the outer section and is made oi the same length as the latter. Each link is furnished at its concave -edge with a step-shaped extension or lining 4 which is shown to vbe made integral with the link but may be soldered thereto if desired. This extension underlies the joint between4 the link to which it is attached, and the convex edge of the adjoining link, so that the several extensions prevent the formation of obj ectionable slits between the links, especiallyV when the bracelet is closed upon the arm.
Each side section 2 is apertured as at v5, the apertures of adjoining links being engaged by the shanks of a common staple 6.
In this way, there appears along each rim of the bracelet, a continuous row of staples, the construction of the parts being'such that a. slight play is by the staples permitted between the links, so that the entire body of the bracelet is iiexible. The bottom sections 3 are of a width Vto permit this slight play, there being foi-ined between them in the uniexed position of the bracelet, a series of parallel slits 7 (Fig. 2).
In constructing the bracelet, a lat blank is struck up by means of a suitable die so as to embody a central arched section and a pair vof diametrically extending apertured shanks (F ig'. 5). The step-shaped extension or lining 4f when made integral with the blanks is struck up simultaneously with the latter, or when made in a separate piece is subsequent-ly soldered thereto. The blank is now bent into the form of a staple of which the arched central section forms the cross piece (Fig. G). The links are now connected by means of the staples G, the ends of which are upset against the inner faces of the side pieces. Next, the two Shanks of each link are at a point beyond the apertures 5, bent inwardly at right angles, so as to parallel the outer link section l, the length of the shanks being such that their free ends will contact with each other (Fig. il). These free ends are soldered together as at S so as to forni the continuous inner section 3 and to thus close the link which will new assume the squared or oblong form shown.
Fig. shows the bracelet in the iiexed position assumed when encircling the arm of the wearer, it being understood that the bracelet is furnished with a suitable clasp, which is not shown in the drawing for the reason that the device is here represented in its closed position.
I claim:
`l. A bracelet comprising a series of oblong links, having outer sections, a. pair of apertured sides and continuous inner sections, and two rows of staples extending along said. apertured sides, the Shanks of said staples engaging the sides of adjoining links.
2. A bracelet composed or" a plurality of closed hollow links having arched outerl sections, apertured side sections, and continuous inner sections that parallel the outer sections, and of staples engaging the aper- 5 tured side sections.
A bracelet composed of a plurality of closed hollow oblong links, having arched outer sections, apertured sidersections, and Y continuous inner sections, linings carried by the outer sections and underlying the joints 1o between said sections, and staples engaging the apertured side sections.
