IMPROVEMENT IN COAL-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,494, dated October 31, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OnARLEs W. OOFFIN, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Coal-Boxes, of which the following is a specification Figure l is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a trans 'verse vertical section.
This invention relates to a box for handling coal on steamboats or elsewhere, constructed so as to combine lightness With durability and convenience.
Referring to the drawing, a is the box, the same being made of common or galvanized iron, of any desired size and shape, and having either vertical or flaring sides. Along all the corner lines angle-irons b are riveted, the same connecting the ends and sides, sides and bottom, and ends and bottom. Handles, c, of Wood are tastened to the sides of the box with screw-bolts (I. These boxes are extremely durable, standing Well the heavy Wear to which they are subject from dashing coal into them by shovels, and in transporting the same from place to place.
