Description
Patentedocf. 17,1871.
Witnesses:
' UNITED STATES THOMAS REED, OF PLAINWELL, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN lRONlNG-TABLES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,101, dated October 17, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS REED, of Plainwell, in the county of Allegan and in the State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Table; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specilication.
The nature of my invention consists in certain improvements upon the ironing-table for which Letters Patent were granted to me August 29, 1871, as Will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the` annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a side View, and Fig. 2 a perspective View of my improved ironing-table. Fig. 3 is a section through line am, Fig. l.
A represents a portion of an ordinary leaf-table, under the end of which is secured a wooden cleat, B. C is the ironing-board, having at its larger end two straight horizontal metal bars, a a, which are inserted in slots made in the cleat B, and the ironing-board is fastened by means of a small hook, b, entering into a staple on the table, thereby preventing the bars ce a from drawing out of the slots. D D and E are the legs, constructed in the same manner as. described in my former patent; but instead of the legs D D being attached by means of a metal hinge it is attached to the board Q by a Wooden hinge, G. H H are the guides between which theupper end of the leg E is inserted. In one of these guides is a'pin, z', which passes into a groove in the leg E, when said leg is inserted between the guides, and prevents the same from dropping out.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ironing-board C with straight bars da, hook b, legs D D E, guides H H, pin t, and groove in the leg E, all combined and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of August,
THOMAS REED. Witnesses WM. VERBEEK, Loot/ris A. MILLER.
