Description

T. LIBBY.
AIRoNAING-TMLE. N.189,Z3`9. Patented April 3,1877.Y
`NJETERS, PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON EJ E) UNrran STATES PATENT @Tarea TI-IOMAS LIBBY, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO HARVEY C. FULLER, OF SAME PLAGE.
IMPROVEMENT IN IRONING-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 189,2 39, dated April 3, 1877; application filed October 7, 1876.
To all lwhom 'it may concern Beit known that I, THOMAS LEBBY, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing- Tables, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specifica-tion, in which- Figure l is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section. Fig. 3 shows the table with its supports folded.
My invention relates to boards for ironing and smoothing clothes; and it consists in the combination of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact manner in which I have carried it out.
In the drawings, A represents a board, to the under side of which is rigidly attached the cross-bar D, provided at each end with a shoulder and pin, b. Ou these pins b are pivoted the legs B B, as shown in Fig. 1. Between the legs B B are secured the rocking shafts G', carrying the pawls C, which engage with the cleats a a, secured on the under side of the board A, as shown in Fig. 2.
Itis evident from this descriptiouthat an ironing-table thus constructed may be readily adjusted to any desired height to suit the person using it, and that it will be held steadily in position when thus adjusted.
It is also evident that the board may be inclined longitudinally, when desired, by simply straightening out one pair ofthe legs B B more than the other, and changing the pawl t0 an outer cleat.
By my construction l also produce an ironing-table which may be readily folded up, as shown in Fig. 3, when not iu use. i
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The board A, provided with the cross-bar D and cleats a, in combination with the legs B and pawls C, constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
THOMAS LIBBY.
