Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed June 14, 1915. Serial No. 33,976.
' Tooth-Brush and Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. This invention relates to an improved tooth brush and holder therefor, and has for an object the provision of an improved structure which is sanitary and which will hold the brush suspended so that the bristles will not have any strain thereon.
Another object in view is to provide a combined holder and tooth brush whereby when the tooth brush is in the holder the bristles will be sealed by the end of the handle engaging certain parts of the holder.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section through an embodiment of the invention including a supporting bracket and part of the supporting wall or fixture; Fig. 2 is a front view of the construction shown in Fig. l.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a wall or any suitable support to which bracket 2 is secured by any suitable means, as for instance, screws 3. shelf at having an aperture 5 for engaging a flange 6 of the tubular container 7 Container 7 may be made from any suitable material, as for lnSttIIlCE'" glass, celluloid,
bone, ivory, vulcanized rubber or the like. Arranged in the tube or container '7 is a brush 8 provided with bristles 9 in the usual manner, and with a handle 10 having an end member 11 in the form of a ball which acts as a stopper for hermetically sealing the container against the entrance of germs.
It will be observed that by "providing end member 11 the brushS is properly suspended or swung within the container, which is sealed, thus maintaining the brush clean and sanitary while preventing any un- Bracket 2 is provided with a necessary strain to be brought upon the bristles.
The container 7 is made sufliciently long to present a space belowthe brush in order that a spong or piece of cotton or other suitable material may be arranged therein if desired, which material may be saturated with a suitable antiseptic.
The globular head 11 on the end of the tooth brush not only facilitates the graspmg of the handle of the brush by the user, but serves as a sealing valve, hermetically sealing the glass container, however the brush is dropped into the container. Being free from projecting shoulders which might catch against the edge of the glass container, it always forms a hermetically closing valve in whatever direction the tooth brush is thrown into the container.
Consequently it requires no attention on the part of the user of the brush other than to merely drop the brush in the container.
lVhat we claim is In combination with a support having means for securing it upon a vertically extending surface, a portion extending horizontally when so secured and having an aperture sufficiently large to receive the hereinafter-recited container, a container in said aperture closed at the bottom and open at the top and having a flaring circular upper end of a diameter too great to pass through said aperture, and a tooth brush,
