IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING-CHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 119,849, dated October 10, 1871.
To all 207mm it may concern:
Be it -knoivn that I, CHARLES A. JACKSON, ot' Boston, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Foldin g-Chair; and I do hereby declare the following' to be a full and correct description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my chair expanded for use, and Fig. 2 is a similar elevation of the chair when folded.
The saine part is marked bythe same letter of reference in both igures.
In the drawing, B marks the back supports of the chair, which are pivoted to the seat at its rear corners. The lower ends of the back rails Bl are provided with pins Which are received in holes in the notches A A A on the legs L. The hind legs L are pivot-ed to the front legs L near B, the front corners of the seat. The front legs are hinged to the bottom of the seat, as shown.
The chair folds in such a manner that by taking hold of the back B With one hand the chair may be lifted With one hand and the legs L L will drop into their proper place.
' The supports B to the back, resting upon the legs L at the points marked A A A in the drawing, form a back which may be placed at different angles.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the back B of the chair with the legs L, controlling the front ofthe chair, and forming a back at different angles by means ofthe combination at the points markedA A A, and the combination at the front of the chair, marked B, by which the front l'egs Ll are controlled and put into proper position to enable the chair to be used as a seat, all as shown and described.
