Speei ficatiers Patent. Patented Aug. 15, 11%115,
Application filed April 28, 1915. Serial No. 24,502.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN HERsnY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Devon,
in the county of Toole, State of Montana,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Holders; and' I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to sash holders.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of a simple and efficient device of the character named which will secure a window sash at a desired elevation and enable the use of window weights to be dispensed with.
With the above and other objects in. view the invention'consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a fragment of a window sash and window frame sash elevated; Fig. 2, a section showing the improved holder applied and engaging the window frame to secure the on the line 2-2 of Fig.1; Fig. 3, a perspective view of one of-the component disks used in forming the holder, and Fig. 4, a perspective view of another of the component disks used in forming the holder.
Referring to the drawings 10 inchcatesa window sash and 11 a window frame 1n which the sash 10 is adapted to slide.
The improved holder is shown as comprising superimposed disks 12, 13 and 14 which are connected together through the medium of suitable rivets 15. It will be noted that the disk 13 is confined between the disks 12-and 14. These disks are adapt- Gopies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each,
ed to be stamped out of sheet metal and the disk 12 in its formation is provided with a diametrical wing 16 disposed in a plane at right angles to the plane of the disk and serving as a finger hold in operating the device either to locking or unlocked posltion. The edge portion of the disk 13 is extended longitudinally as at 17 and then laterally as at 18 while the edge portion of the disk 14 is coextensive with and parallel to the portion 18 of the disk 12. Confined between the edge portion of the disk 14 and the edge portion 18 of the disk 12- is a rubber ring 19. Extending through the superimposed disks 12, 13 and 14 eccentric with respect thereto is a pivot screw 20 upon which is disposed a washer 21.
In applying the device to a window sash the screw 20 is screwed into the sash at the desired point when said device can be edge portion of one of the outer disks be-' ing coextensive and parallel to the outwardly directed edge portion of the intermediate disk, a rubber ring confined between the outwardly directed edge portion of the intermediate disk and the edge portion of the outer disk, a finger grip on the other outer disk, and a pivot screw passed through said disks, eccentrically to the latter.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
I JOHN HERSEY. Witnesses:
