The improved device comprises a base or supporting member represented as a whole at 10 and preferably of relatively heavy and tough card board or the like and corresponding, substantially in outline to but larger than the cover member of a water closet seat, the cover being represented con vcntionully at 11, The closet seat is represented conventionally {$112.

The margin of the opening in each of the sheets 13 is provided with a plurality of clefts 17 spaced'at short intervals, so that the portion of the sheet which overhangs the opening of the seat 12 will readily bend inwardly over the edge of the opening in the seat when in use. Formed upon each of the sheets 13 is a guard portion 18 which hangs downwardly with the bowl of the closet when the sheet 13 is in operative position. The guard portions 18 are perforated to receive a holding cord or tape 19. The superimposed projections 14 and 15 are perlorated to receive cords represented at 20 whereby the device may be tied to the hinges 10. At their upper portions and at intermediate points, themcznbers 10 and 13are' provided with clefts 2.1 and with registering apertures 22 to receive binding cords or tapes 23 by which the parts 10 and 13 are uniteds Attached to the cover member 11 at suitable intervals are clip devices, one of which is shown detached in Fig. 4, and each comprising a flat plate 24 adapted to be secured to the cover 11 by screws or like fastening devices and each including a tongue 25 beneath which the cords or tapes 23 are disposed to detachably secure the base '10 and the superimposed sheets to the cover. By this ineans the sheets are held only by the cords or tapes 23 and adapted to be detached one at a time and laid over the seat 12, the lower part of each sheet being held by the cords 20. After using, the sheet which has been turned down is to'rn ofl? from the holding cords 20 and thrown into the bowl, so that a fresh sheet may be turned down over the seat each time the closet is used. When the sheets are all used, they are renewed bydetaching the cords 20 and applying the base 10 to a new set of the sheets and the cords 23 engaged with the' clips Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A device of the class described including a base member having a projection, a plurality of sheets of relatively thin material superimposed upon said base and each having an opening and a projection corresporlding to the base member, means operating through the projections of the base and of the sheets and adapted to connect the same to the cover member of a water closet seat, binding cords uniting the base and the sheets. and a plurality of clip de vices adapted to be connected to said cover arid engaged by saidcords.

l. A device of'the class described (omprising a base niembersa plurality of sheets of relatively thin 'material: superimposed upon the said base and each having an opening and a plurality of registering clefts in their margins and a plurality of register-r ing apertures spaced from the (-lefts, binding cords extendingthrough the clefts and through the apertures, and meansadapted to attach said cords to a closet seat cover.

3. A device of the character described comprising a base member, a plurality of sheets of relatively thin material superimposed upon the said base and each having an opening and a plurality of registering clefts in their margins arid a plurality of register ing apertures spaced from the clefts, binding cords extending through the clefts and through the apertures, and a plurality of clips adapted to be attached to a closet seat cover and engaged by said cords.
