The present invention relates to a sanitary pillowslip and a sweat guard therefor and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel pillowslip and a sweat guard therefor.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a pillowslip and sweat guard of novel construction and which will be inexpensive to manufacture and effective and efiicient in its operation.

A further object of the invention is the provision, in a device of the character referred to, of a sanitary pillowslip.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of novel means for the prevention of sweat permeation of a pillow and its associated parts.

Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawings, in which:

Figures 1 to l, inclusive, are perspective views of certain elements of the invention and illustrating the method of their assembly,

Figure 5 is a perspective view of a pillowslip constructed in accordance with the teachings of the invention and showing a pillow partly inserted therein,

Figure- 6 is a perspective View of the pillowslip with a sweat guard formin a part of the invention partly inserted therein, and

Figure '7 is a perspective view of a completely assembled embodiment of the invention.

Generally, there is provided a pillowslip formed of a cardboard backing member to which is sewed a plurality of sheets of soft, flexible, waterproof paper provided with perforations whereby the same may be readily removed one at a time as used. The whole is assembled in the form of a pillowslip with the perforated sheets upon the outer sides. Provision is made for a sweat guard adapted to be inserted between the outer sheet of paper and the remainder. The slip and the guard are provided with pairs of registering openings whereby laces may be inserted to retain the assembled elements in proper relative positions.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, there is shown therein a pillowslip having a base member ID preferably formed of cardboard upon which is mounted a plurality of sheets of thin, flexible and waterproof paper II.

The base and the paper sheets are of sufilcient size to form both sides of a pillowslip when folded, as indicated in Figure 1. edge l2 and the contiguous sides are then sewn, as indicated at l3, the paper having been previously perforated at [4 adjacent the position of the stitches l3.

Midway of each of the sides of the folded and thus assembled pillowslip there is provided a pair of openings 15.

A sweat guard is also provided and consists of a body I 6 of prefarbly light, pliable plastic material and a frame formed of strips [1 0f stiffened material. The frame is provided with a pair of openings IS in each side and each end, which openings are adapted to register with the openings I5 when the guard is positioned in the slip.

When so positioned between the outermost sheet I l and the remainder of the slip and a pillow 20 has been inserted in the pillowslip, laces I!) may be inserted'in the pairs of openings l5 and 8 to tie the assembled parts together in proper relative positions.

It will be seen that when the assembled device 1 is so used, perspiration is prevented from contaminating any of the sheets ll except the outer one in contact with the users head and that, after such use, the top sheet ll may be easily removed by tearing the same along the lines of perforations M and the assembly then turned over and the guard inserted in a similar position upon the then upper side whereupon, when the laces are again tied, the device is ready for reuse.

While but one form of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made herein without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A device of the character described including, in combination, a pillowslip having a base of cardboard, a plurality of removable perforated sheets stitched to the outer faces thereof and a sweat guard of moistureproof material removably inserted between the outermost sheet and the remainder of the device.

2. A device of the character described including, in combination, a pillowslip having a base of cardboard, a plurality of removable, flexible, absorbent perforated sheets stitched to the outer faces thereof and a sweat guard of moistureproof material removably inserted between the outermost sheet and the remainder of the device.

A device of the character described compris- The folded ing, in combination, a pillowslip having a p1u rality of removable sheets of paper on the outer faces thereof and having a pair of openings at each side and at each end thereof, a sweat guard of moistureproof material removably inserted between the outermost sheet and the remainder of the? device and having a pair of openings at each side and at each end thereof and said'openings being registerd with the openings in the pillowslip when the guard is positioned therein and a lace inserted in each of said-:pairsr firegistered openings.

A device of the character described comprising, in combination, a pillowslip having a base of t cardboard, a plurality 0f 'removab1e"sheets- ;of perforated paper on the outer faces thereof and having a pair of openingsaa't:each-side and at each end thereof, a sweat guard 0f.-.m0istureproof material removably inserted between the outermost sheet andthe remainder of the device and having a pair of openings at each side and at each end thereof and said openings being registered with the openings in the pillowslip when the guard is positioned therein and laces inserted in each of said pairs of registered openings.
