BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION The present invention relates to lodge presentation aprons, and is more particularly concerned with an apron of the type described having a flap provided with intelligence indicia, such as the identification and lodge affiliation of the wearer, on one side thereof.

It is an object of the invention to provide a novel lodge presentation apron having a flap, one side of which is adapted to display intelligence indicia such as the identification of the wearer or owner. It is a further object to provide an apron of the type described wherein the indicia may be readily applied and readily removed or exchanged by other indicia if desired. Other objects will become apparent hereinafter.

According to the invention, a lodge presentation apron is provided having an opaque body portion and tie means for afiixing the apron to the body of a person. A flap in a form of a pocket of generally triangular form and having an opening at one edge is connected to the body portion. One wall of the pocket is made of a transparent sheet-form material. A removable insert member is positioned within the pocket and has intelligence indicia such as the identification of the wearer applied to a surface thereof. The insert member is so arranged that the indicia can be viewed through the transparent wall of the pocket. If desired, the indicia may be changed by removing the insert member and inserting another insert member containing other desired indicia.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Reference is now made to the accompanying drawing for a better understanding of the invention, wherein all the parts are numbered and wherein the same numbers are used to refer to corresponding parts throughout.

Referring to FIGS. 1-3, an apron according to the invention is illustrated and comprises a body portion 12,

a flap 14, both of lamb skiver, and a cord 16 for affixing the apron about the body of the wearer. As illustrated particularly in FIG. 3, the cord 16 is secured to the apron by means of stitching 18. The flap 14 is provided with a transparent wall 20 aflixed to the flap 14 at the terminal edges thereof, but left open at the edge at which the flap is connected to the body portion, thereby forming a pocket having an opening through which inserts may be made. The transparent sheet-form member or pocket 20 is afiixed to the edge of the flap by means of stitching 22, the stitching 22 continuing about the body portion to provide a trimmed border.

As illustrated in FIG. 4, an insert member 24 is provided having desired intelligence indicia 26 applied thereto as, for example, the name and address of a lodge, and the name and other information relating to the lodge member who is to wear the apron. The insert member 24 is adapted to be inserted into the pocket formed by the transparent sheet-form member 20 and the flap 14. As a result, when the flap 14 is extended or raised by the wearer, the indicia 26 may be viewed through the transparent wall of the sheet-form member 20.

The apron of the present invention may be fabricated from any of a large number of opaque sheet materials, as for example fabrics such as cotton, wool, linen, nylon, plastic-coated fabrics, plastics, leather, synthetic leather, etc. The preferred material is leather, e.g., lamb skiver, advantageously having a fabric backing on the body portion thereof which will contact the wearer. The transparent sheet-form member may be of any transparent film or sheet material, such as cellophane, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, or the like.

The insert member may be formed of any sheet material such as paper, paperboard, sheet-form plastic material, fabric, etc. It is required only that the material be able to accept and retain the desired printed indicia on at least one surface thereof and that it possess the necessary minimal rigidity for insertion into the apron flap pocket.

The novel lodge presentation apron of the present invention has a number of advantages over prior art aprons. The indicia may be readily and much more permanently applied by paper printing processes which are simpler and less expensive than processes for applying the indicia to the apron itself, and even. by typing. Once the indicia has been properly applied, and the information filled in with relation to the identity of the wearer, et cetera, the insert member may be readily inserted in the pocket formed by the transparent member. If it should subsequently be desired to change the information or change the identity of the wearer, the insert member may be readily removed and a new paper or paperboard insert member readily inserted.

It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the exact details of construction, operation, or exact materials or embodiments shown and described, as obvious modifications and equivalents will be apparent to one skilled in the art, and the invention is therefore to be limited only by the scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A lodge presentation apron comprising in combination an opaque sheet-form body portion, tie means affixed thereto adapted to be tied about the body of a wearer, a pocket flap comprising two sheet-form members, the first of said sheet-form members comprised of an opaque material connected to said body portion and the second of said sheet-form members comprised of a transparent material having a portion of the edge thereof afiixed to the edge of said first sheet-form member but having a limited portion of the edge thereof unafiixed to said first sheetform member, thereby providing an opening in said pocket flap, said pocket flap being adapted to have a sheet-form insert member having intelligence indicia applied to a surface thereof inserted therein.

A lodge presentation apron according to claim 1, wherein a removable sheet-form insert member is arranged within said pocket flap, said insert sheet having a surface thereof adapted to accept intelligence indicia to be applied thereto, and which indicia when so applied may be observed through said transparent sheet-form member.

3. A lodge presentation apron according to claim 1, having a removable sheet-form insert member arranged Within said pocket flap, a surface of said sheet-form insert member having intelligence indicia applied thereto, wherein said indicia may be viewed through said transparent sheet-for member.
