SANITARY TOILET-SEAT PAD.
Application filed September 28, 1927. Serial No. 222,486.
This invention relates to an improved sanitary, pad for toilet seats, and the object is to produce a device oit this character having a base member adapted to be secured to the toilet seat, and having thereon a plurality of coverings detachably secured thereto, which will aiiord to each individual user a sanitary cover for the seat.
To attain these advantages, I provide a base member formed from heavy cardboard, and conforming in general 'with the contour ot the toilet seat, and having thereon a pad of sanitary sheets detachably secured to the base member, and tormed so that they may be readily detached Yfrom one another. I 'fui`- ther provide the base member with a guinmed surface, whereby it is quickly applied for use, and will be rigidly retained in relation to the toilet seat, and an additional securing means, I provide interlockingl and slotted flaps which, having the gummed surface, will also adhere to the toilet seat.
In the drawings, I show a preferred embodiment of this invention, but it is to be understood thatminor changes and modiiications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of the pad embodying my invention, the flaps oi: the base member being shown in dotted lines in the folded and interloclred position. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the base member showing the interlocking` iiaps in the extended position before 'folding them. Fig. il is a sectional view of the pad applied to a seat cover. Fig. l is a side or edge view of the pad, with the flaps shown at an angle with the base.
Referring to the drawings, the device consists of a pad 11, of suitable paper, each having a tab 12, adapted to be grasped by the user when the sheet is to be detached 'trom the pad. The tabs are arranged so that the uppermost one will always projectover those beneath, thereby rendering detachment of the uppermost sheet to be readily accomplished. T he pad is attached to the base member 13, which made from eXtra heavy cardboard, having gummed surfaces, by which it Will readily adhere to the toilet seat 111-,
the gumined surfaces preventing` displacementrelative to the toilet seat. The base member 13, has slotted outer tlaps 15 and in ner flaps 16, arranged so that, when folded beneath the toilet seat, they will interlock with one another, each outer flap being opposed to a corresponding inner flap.
In attaching the device to a toilet seat, the -flaps are passed under the same, and the slotted flap extremities are placed in interlocked position. The gummed surfaces oi the base and flaps will adhere to the seat.
In use, each individual sheet may be des tached as desired. The sheets may be made of any suitable material, but are iufeferably of a thin and water-proof paper fabric. The tabs 12 are so formed as to prevent tearingl olf the sheet when it is detached trom the pad. The pad 11is made up in the manner ot any ordinary pad. In replacing the pad, the base member is thoroughly moistened, and is then readily removed from the toilet seat. A new pad may then be placed in position and secured to the seat. The base member has been described as constructed from heavy cardboard, but it is to be understood that gunnned cloth may be used as a substitute therefor and as the equivalent thereof.
I claim:
1. A. sanitary toilet seat cover pad, eoinprising a base member having gun'imed surfaces to adhere to a toilet seat, slotted securing flaps adapted to pass under the scat, interlockin extremities on the opposed l'laps, and a pad of detachalille sheets secured to the base member.
2. A sanitary toilet seat pad, comprising a base member, gummed surfaces on the base member adapted to adhere to a toilet seat, flaps integral with the base member and adapted to pass under the toilet seat, said flaps being arranged in opposed relation one,
to another on the base member, interlocking extremities on the flaps, and a pad oli' detachable sheets mounted on the base member.
