TOILET-SEAT COVER.
A' Application led September i2, 1922. Serial No. 587,752.
To all whom t mar/y concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. REID, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and Improved Toilet-Seat Covers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip-4 tion.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in toilet articles and it pertains more particularly to a sanitary cover for toilet seats.
It isone of the primary objects of the invention to provide a sanitary toilet seat cover whichmay be folded into compact -form thus rendering it possible to package a plurality of the articles for the market.
It is a furtherv object of the invention to provide a toilet seat cover which is cheap of manufacture in order that the same may be discarded without material cost.
It is a further object of the invention to so construct the device that it will entirely cover the toilet seat.
It is a further object ofl the` invention to so construct the device that it has adepending fiange portion which extends downwardly around the edges of thetoilet kseat to completely [enclose -the same.
With the above and other objects inwiew,
reference is had to the accompanying drau ings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the manner'in which the device is used;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of which the cover is formed, the dotted lines showing the manner in which the blank is folded to form the cover;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the toilet seat cover;
4 is a plan view of the reverse side of the toilet seat cover; Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 3;
Fig. 6 is a transverse sectional on the line 6-6 of Fig. 3;
Fig. 7 is a detail sectional the line 7-7 of Fig. 4;
Fig. 8 is a detail sectional view taken on the line 8-8 of Fig. 4. y
lg. 9 is a detail sectional view taken on theline 9-9 of Fig. 4.
the front face of view taken View taken on Referring more particularly to the drawings, the device comprises a blank 11 of paper or other suitable material, and said blank 11 is provided with a substantially centrally disposed openin 12, preferably of oval or circular form. 'he opposite side edges of the blank designated by the reference character 13 are folded inwardly of the blank along the dotted lines 14 and after this has been done the folded side edges are folded at one end along the dotted lines 15 to provide inwardly-disposed corner flaps 16, more clearly shown in Fig. 4. The fiaps 16 may now be pasted in the inwardly folded position if desired, but this is not absolutely necessary to the successful operation of the device. After the side edges have been folded the lower corner flaps 17 are folded upon the dotted lines 18 to provide inwardly folded corner iaps 19. After this has been 2 1 and may be secured by paste or the like', which, however, is not necessary to the successful operation of the device. When folding' the blank it will be seen that inwardly positioned side members 22 and an inwardly disposed bottom member 23 are provided. which members, however, are not secured to the main body portion 11 of the device but are free to fold out of engagement therewvith.
In use the device is slipped around a toilet seat and the side members 22 and the bottom i member 23 will occupy a dependin' osithe blank freni g P tion to entirely enclose the edge and bottom of the toilet seat, said side members 22 and bottom member 23 forming depending flanges for this purpose.
By this construction it is apparent that the present invention provides a toilet seat cover in which the entire toilet seat is endone the bottom edge 2O of the` Y blank is folded inwardly on the dotted line closed, thus protecting the user from contact therewith.
The device is folded in any. desired manner into relatively compact form and is preferably enclosed in paper envelopes when folded for sale.
I claim:
A. toilet seat cover formed from a sheet of suitable material, said sheet having two parallel sides folded inwardly of the body portion, opposite corners folded inwardly of the folded-in sides and secured thereto, a third side oldedinwardly of the body por.
tion and including the folded-in parallel sides, said third side being secured to the parallel folded-in sides in permanent folded-in relation to provide a depending flange on each of the three sides of the sheet, the
opposite corners of the fourth side of the sheet being folded in and including the ends of the folded-inv parallel sides5 said lastmentioned folded-in corners being secured -in permanent folded-inreltion to the in-
