Description
Feb- 5 A. JULlNE TOILET SEAT COVER Filed July 16 1919 Patented Feb. 5, 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR JULINE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO OLIVER C.
DENNIS, OF WILMETTE, ILLINOIS.
TOILET-SEAT COVER.
Application filed July 16, 1919.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ARTHUR JULINE', a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet- Seat Covers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to toilet-paper seatcovers and its object is to provide a simple and efficient cover which is adapted to effectively protect the user from contact likely to infect him, and which is adapted to be carried off automatically with the water in the toilet.
The invention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth and more particularly defined by the claim at the conclusion hereof.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective of a sheet embodying the invention, illustrating its use. Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing the sheet in use. Fig. 3 is a, detail of the sheet while it is flat and before it is used.
The improved seat-cover is formed of paper of the character generally used as toilet-paper, and consists of a sheet 4 having parallel side edges 5, triangular side extensions 6 at the front thereof and a central V- shaped extension 7 at the back thereof, conforming to the shape of the front, so that the sheets can be serially or consecutively! formed of a .web of paper without waste. the water.
The invention exemplifies an improved cover for individual use which may be formed from a web of paper and in which the flap is adapted to start the entire sheet into the drainage system, so that the entire sheet will be automatically disposed of, and in which the front portions are adapted to furnish the desired protection, without any waste in the paper forming the seat.
The invention is not to be understood as restricted to the details set forth, since these may be modified within the scope of the appended claim, without' departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is:
A toilet seat cover consisting of a thin flexible sheet having substantially parallel side edges, a central hole to fit over the hole in the seat and its front and rear edges conformably V-shaped, so that it can be formed by consecutive V-shaped cross cuts from a continuous web, the rear edge having the apex of the V at the center of the sheet to cover the central portion of the back of the seat, the front portion having the apex of the cut at the center of the sheet so as to leave flaps at the front corners of the sheet which will depend downwardly and cover the front portions of the seat adjacent the sides thereof.
ARTHUR JULINE.
