Abstract

388,914. Closet seat-guards. BARBER, R. S. V., 44, Royal Avenue, Chelsea, London. Feb. 29, 1932, No. 2541. [Class 26.T A closet seat-guard of paper &c. is turned down at portions b, Fig. 1, of the edge of the central aperture, and the central aperture is spanned by a strip f of thin paper or like frangible material. The strip may be constituted by a separate piece of material affixed to the sheet forming the guard proper, and is weakened at f<1> to facilitate tearing, the lines of perforations being so disposed that after tearing, the portions remaining affixed to the sheet are sufficient to provide additional protection for the person of the user. The edge of the sheet around the central aperture may be straight at those portions, where the strip f is attached to the sheet or may be continuously curved ; in the latter case the strip f is slack between its points of attachment to permit packing of the guards. The rear edge c of the sheet is straight and is provided with perforations g for attachment to positioning members on the closet; further, the front of the sheet is provided with a tab e. The members i upon which the guards are mounted may be upwardly and rearwardly curved as in Fig. 3, the unused sheets leaning towards a wall and being moved into position one at a time. The sheet from which the guard is made is treated on one or both sides to render it impervious to grease or water or both and is treated with antiseptic or disinfecting agents. According to the Provisional Specification, the guard may be composed of fibrous material or of a rubber or cellulose compound.
