Description

-To all whom it may concern# :PAUL TUSZKA; STEVEES BOINT, WISCONSIN.
lromane enana-Harmen.
Be it known that l, Patin TUszn'A., a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Stevens'- Point, inthe county of Portage and State of lWisconsin, have invented, certain new and useful Improvements in Folding vCrank- Handles; and l do declare the Vfollowingto be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which 'it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvement'in' crank handles and has for its object to pre` videa simply constructed and inexpensivel device of this class which maybe quickly and easily folded when not in use and 'exs' tended when necessary, the improved handle being adapted for application to any-ma chine where found desirable but being of unusual advantage for use on toolswhich must be carried from place to place anelupon; hand 'driven cream separators employed in" cramped quarters. i
With the foregoing genera-l object in View, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction to be hereinafter fully described and claimed, the descriptive matter being supplemented by the' accompanying drawing which constitutes a part of this application Vand-in which: I f
'Figure l is a" side elevation of the iml proved crank ,handleshowing several positions 'of the hand hold in dotted lines; Fig. '2 is'an elevation at right angles tollig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the hand I ,holdin operative position; and Fig. 4f is a' similar view showing the hand hold in readiness for swinging to' another position.
7 ln speciically'describing the construction shown in the drawings above briefly described, similar characters will be placedvon corresponding parts throughout the-several views and reference will be herein made to the numerous elements by their vrespective indices. To this end, the numeral l designates the arml of the improved crank handle while 2 refers to the hand hold thereof. The
arm l may be provided at one end with any preferred means for attaching it to a shalt or the like (not shown), said endv being shown as having an opening' for thispurpose. The other end ,of the armv 1 is notched at t to provide. a pair of parallel ears 5, the inner end C of the notch constituting a stop shoulder for a purpose'to be described.
The hand hold 2 is provided with a dat screw ortho like 10 passes, said screw being shown as extending throughv an aperture in Specicatio'n of LetterafPateat. 'Patentd'guly 18, 1916,
application led May' t1, 1916. Serial No. 96,928. i l
onefear 5 and as being threaded in the other I ear. A pin 11 extends from'the inner end of the head 8 and is'providedat4 its free end with'a stop 12,. a. sleege 13 being revolubly.
mounted on said "pin etween said stop; and
Theo posite edges. 14of the head-8 are f while the outer end [15? ofpsaid 'head is formed oan arc whosecenteris disposed at thel outer end .of vsaid s1ot.' By this-ar rangement, when-the hand hold 2 is moved to the position shown" in Fig. l it fmay be swung to any one of the dotted line positions depicted in- Fig. il... When, however, said dispose inpparallel relation withthe slot V9', 1
hand hold has been. positioned in right angular relation with the` arm 1 'and is then forced toward said arm, one or the other of the edges 14 will abut the shoulder t5, whereby turning of the head 8 around the pivot pin 10 is prevented.- Thus, the hand hold -may 'be effectively' locked in operative position or ina reverse position.
For the purpose ,of yieldably. retaining the hand hold 2 in its numerous adjusted positions, a spring presseddetentin the form of a pin 16 is slidably mounted in a bore 17 formed in the arm 1 and openingthrough the shoulder 6,v said pin .being moved-into engagement with the head 8. by a coiled sprin 18 housed in the -bore 17 behind said pin. he outer end of' pin 16 is rounded'for yielding engagement with lsockets 19 foned l claim: l
