useful Detachable and Collapsible Handle.
for Safety-Razors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
- This invention relates to an improved handle for safety razors and the like, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide an improved handle, which may be do tached from the safet razor or the like, and reattached in a di erent position. on the safety razor. or reattached m'a collapsed position against the safety razor.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind, which may be folded or collapsed in a small compass, in
order to consume a small space, when stored away out of use.
A further obg'cct of the invention is the provision of a;device of this kind, which may be manufactured at a small cost and sold at a reasonable profit.
In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations fallmg with, in the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts as hereinafter set apertures iorth shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in .PEISPECHVB of a safety razor, showing the proved detachable handle therefor attached thereto at one end.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the safety razor showing the detachable handle connected thereto in another position extending at an angle therefrom. I
Fig. 3 is a view in elevation of the safety razor showing the handle connected thereto inv a collapsed position, and in parallelism with the safety razor. 1 Referring more especially to the.drawings, ldesignates a base plate or holdcrhaw ins on one face thereof aterally extending spliced lugs 2, which pro ect through the or openings of the safety blade razor 4. Also proJectmg from the same face of the holder or base plate intermediate the lugs 2 is a threaded stud or screw 5, and 6 donates a guard plate. The razor olade 4 SHERWOOD is rovided with a central opening 7 through w ich the screw or stud extends. The guard plate is provided with apertures or openings 8, for the reception of the lugs 2,.
and also an intermediate a erture or op'cning 9 for the reception of t e stud or screw 5. A handle 10 is provided, and which is constructed to provide an elongated central contracted portion 11 having enlargements 12 and 13 at its opposite ends. Adjacent where the enlargements 12 and 13 integrally connect to the contracted portion 11 shoulders 12 and 15 are constructed. The central part of the contracted portion. 11 of the handle has an opening 16, for the reception l of the stud or screw 5 of the base plate or holder 1, when the handle is disposed or collapsed in parallelism against the guard plate 6, there being a thumb nut 17 threaded on thescrew or stud 5 to hold the handle securely in place, when the safety razor is stored away out of use. The handle may be arranged as shown in Fig. 3, in which case the shoulders 14 engage the opposite ends of the guard plate, to hold the handle in position and in parallelism with the guard.
plate, and vice versa. However, the handle may be reversed end for end to that shown in Fig. 3, or turned over and in this case the shoulders 15 may engage the ends of the guard plate to hold the handle in osition.
When the handle is disposed as s own in i Fig. 3 the guard plate and the razor blade are clamped in parallelism against the blade plate or holder. One end of the base plate or holder 1 has an extension screw 18. The
The invention having been set forth What 15 eialmed as new and useful 15: v
1. In a device as set forth, a safety biade holder, a safety blade and guard piete, a
handle and means carried by the holder and extending through the blade, the guard piate, and. the handle and. having; adevice for clamping the parts together in para ielism, means on the homer projecting through the blade and the piate to prevent turning of thejplete and blade, seid. handle having shoulders at either end to engage either end of the guard to prevent oscillatory displacement of the handle.
The combination. with a holder of a se-fety blade guzw a right angle laterally extending serew 'projeeiing from one face of izhe holder and through the blade, 8. hanle .mving eniargemenie at both enris and pro vided with ehouhlers adjacenfi said eniargemen-ts, said enlargements having threaded openings, either one being adapteci 0 engage the threaded screw, the oentrzil portion of the hemiio having an opening to receive said screw to hold the handle longitudinally across the blade, with said opposite shoulders engaging the opposite end elges of the guard, and means for holding the guard from rotating on the screw.
in testimony whereof I have si ned my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
