Description
D. MARINSKY.
FASTENING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED SEPTJZ. I9l4.
Patented May 30, 1916.
DAVIS MABm'SKY, OF NEW YORK, N.
FASTENING Dnvmn Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 12, 1914. Serial No. 861,343.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, DAVIS MARINSKY, a
citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain class in the form of an article manufactured and which may be applied to" a garment or garments whenever desired and the construction of which is such that the hooks and eyes are covered or concealed at the back of the fastening device, but may be exposed at the front, or covered or concealed at the front if desired.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a View showing the preferred form of my fasteningdevice in use; Fig. 2 a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing the fastening device detached and showing only a part thereof on an enlarged scale; Fig. 3 a section on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
In Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing,
I have shown at a and b the flaps or flies of a body or other garment and I have also shown at "o, my improved fastening device by which said flaps or flies arejconnected'.
In the construction shown the fastening device 0 consists of two separate strips d and e of suitable fabric and ordinary eyes 7 are connected with the strip at and ordinary hooks g are connected with the strip 6. The strip (Z is folded centrally and longitudinally, and the eyes are-passed throu h the fold d of said strip at regular interva s, and
said eyes f are provided with shanks havingsecuring rings f also made in the form of eyes, and a row of stitching d is passed through the folded edge portiond of the strip a and through the ears or securing rings f and this secures the separate parts of the stripd together and at the same time secures the eyes f therein. v 1
In securing the hooks g to the strip e, said hooks are passed through said strip atintervals, corresponding with the intervals of the eyes 7, and the outer or back edge por- Patented May so, rare.
tion e of said strip is folded backwardly and forwardly as shown in Fig. 3. The hooks g are also provided with securing rings 9? and the folding of the edge portion 6 of the strip a as shown and described,
covers and conceals the said securing rings g at the back of the fastening device and :1 row of stitching e is passed through the front and back parts of the strip 0 and through the securing rings 9 of the hooks g. .With this construction, the fastening device consists of two strips d and e formed,
as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 and provided with hooks and eyes which are covered or concealed at the back, and in practice, the said' strips (1 and e are secured to the flaps or flies a and b of the garment in the usual manner, the flap or fly a being secured between the edges of the separate parts of the strip 03 as shown at k and the flap or fly b,
being secured to the back of the folded edge portion of the strip 6 at 123.
' I also secure to one of the strips d e, the strip e as shown in the drawing and to the outer edge thereof, a supplemental covering strip or flap i which extends the full length of the fastening device and which covers and conceals the hooks and eyes when in use. With this construction also, the hooks and eyes are covered or concealed both at the back and front, when said hooks and eyes are in engagement.
While I have shown and described the preferred form and construction of my improved fastening device, my invention is not limited to the exact details thereof, as herein *shown and described, and other forms, or
changes in, and modificatlons of the forms herein shown and described, may be made within the scope of the appended clalm,
without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificlng its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A fastening device comprising two strips of fabric, one of which is folded longitudinally to form front and back'portions and being provided at its crease with spaced apertures, eyes passing through said apertures and having securing rings which rest between'the front and rear portions of said strip, the other strip being folded for a portion of its width to provide a front and rear portion, the front portion being provided with spaced apertures, hooks passipg through the apertures of the front portion from the rear thereof and having securing rings which lie in said folded portion, the unfolded portion of said last named strip extending beyond the outer endsrof the hooks'fore'oncealin theeyes'of the other strip when thehoo and eyes are in engagement, and continuous lines of stitch Witnesses:
