Specification of Letters Patent.v
Patenten-May 27, 191e.
Application filed July 23, 1915. Serial No. 41,540.
To all whom t may concern.' n
Be it known that I, GERTRUDE OLSEN', a citizen of' the United States, residing at Dawson, in the county of Lacqui Parle and State of Minnesota', have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Undergarments, of which the following is a. specification. i
This invention relates to an improved undergarment of the type worn by small children and the principal object of the invention is to provide a garment so constructed that it may be easily put in place and may. be' very easily laundried.
Another object of the invention is .'to so construct the garment that it may be formed from two pieces'of material thus permitting it to be very easily and cheaply made.
Another object of theinvention is to so construct this garment that when in use it will remain securely closed and will remain in the 'proper position without the need of a drawing string or auxiliary supporting means.
This invention is illustrated in the aecomv panying drawings, wherein:-
Figure 1 1s a perspective view of the improved garment looking from the rear side. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the improved garment-,looking from the front'side. Fig. 3 isha of the blank forming the rear and''sildeportions of the garment. Fig. 4 is a' viewf the blank from which the front portion of thegarmentis formed.
The rea'r,. "and side portions of this garment are formed from the blank 10 shown in Fig. 3, the lower portion 1l of which forms the legs and the upper portion of which forms the body portion. A tongue 12 which forms theV rear flap is cut from the blank and is provided with a binding 13 having button holes 14 formed therein s o that the iiaps may be held in the closed pcsition by means of buttons 15. The side portions 16 are extended as clearly shown in this figure and cut diagonally so that when the garment is completely made as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 it will have the proper shape with the side portions 16 over, `lapped by the front section 17. This front section 17 is formed from the blank-shown in Fig. 4 and' is provided with button holes 18 so that the front portion may be releasably connected with the side portions of the rear section by means 'of the'buttons 19.
YThis front section is provided with extensions QOcompleting the legs' of the garment and has its lower portion provided with a cutout 2l similar to the cutout 22 .of the blank shown in Fig. 3 so that the two sec- -tions may be sewed together at the edges of the cutouts'Ql and 22thus forming a complete garment. It willv thus be seen that when forming' this. garment it is simply necessary to sew the sections together at the edges of the cutouts 2l and 22 and the garment will be ready for use.
Then this garment is to be used the rear flap will be held in the raised position by place can be secured by means of buttons 19. It will thus be seen that this garment can means of buttons 15 and after being put in very easilybe placed upon the child sin'ce it is not necessary to pass the childs legs through the legextensions but it\ is simply to place the child Hat upon the garment and then button the front section to the side portions of the rear section. It will be also noted that'this garment can be very easily Y removed and further that it can be very easily laundried and ironed. It should be further noted that the childs stomach will be protected from cold and thus danger 0I' catching c'old eliminated.
Vhat is claimed is An undergarment including a rear section having a'tongue cut from Within its upper end portionto form a closurelap and waist GERTRUDE OLSEN. Witnesses A. J. GREENE, EDW. SWENSEN.
