Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 4, 1916.
' Application filed September 24, 1915. Serial No. 52,462.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FORREST E. NAZARENE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maquoketa, in the county of Jackson and State of Iowa, ful Improvements in Toilet- Cushions, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to seat cushions, and more particularly to the class of toilet seat cushions.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a seat cushion, wherein it is made in sections, which are readily and easily adjusted relative to each other so as to fit about different sizes of holes in toilet seats, thereby rendering the seat comfortable to the user thereof.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a cushion of this character, wherein the construction thereof is novel in form, and can be conveniently fastened in position about the hole in a toilet seat for use.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a cushion of this character, which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in its purpose, strong, durable, waterproof, and inexpensive in manufacture.
lVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure l, is a fragmentary top plan view of a toilet seat showing the cushion constructed in accordance withthe invention applied. Fig. 2, is a perspective view of one section of the cushion. Fig. 3, is a vertical transverse sectional view thereof. Fig. 4, is a bottom plan view of the cushion sections.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, in detail, the
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the have invented new and useletter A, designates the top of a toilet seat, having the usual hole or opening B, there in, which may be of any desired size.
The toilet seat cushion comprises a pair of similar sections C, and D, respectively, each being formed with a base piece 5, preferably made from wood, having mounted thereon a water-proof covering 6, which has 5 its edges turned in at 7, and secured to the base piece 5, in any suitable manner.
Within the covering 6, is a filling 8, preferably fibrous material, to provide a pad, the base piece 5, being of curvilinear shape to conform to one half of the hole or opening B, in the toilet seat.
ecured to the outer edge of the base piece 5, at intervals thereof are perforated ears 9, through which are passed-screws 10, for the fastening of the sections C, and D, in position relative to the hole or openings B, for use.
It is of course understood that the sections can be readily adjusted with respect to each other so as to fit about different sizes of holes V or openings in toilet seats and they can be readily and quickly secured in place.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the cushion will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is:
In a device of the class described, complementary base sections having similar curvilinear contour, a plurality of cars at the outer curved edges of said sections and having apertures adapted to receive fasteners, and cushion pads fixed to the upper faces of said sections and correspondingly shaped thereto.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
