PATENT OFFICE.
LYDIA SHOLLAR, 0F ALTOONA, PENNSYLVANIA.
TOILET-SEAT PAD.
Application filed July 12, 1924. Serial No. 725,650.
from or associated with the pad as the occasion may require.
In carrylng out the invention it is my purpose to provide a. seat pad which may be constructed in different sizes. and of a size particularly useful to infants, so that the pad can be conveniently carried in a. hand bag, or conveniently arranged in an automobile or the like so as to be used with a small toilet chair.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be bet-terunderstood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings,
the invention residing in the construct1on,;
combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this application. like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the seat ad. I p Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1. I
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the outer covering with a portion of the covering turned back upon itself.
Referringv to the drawing in detail 10 represents the base of the pad which is preferably constructed of stiff durable card board or the like having a central opening as illustrated in Figure 1. A soft padding of cotton or other material 11 is placed on the uppersideof this base 10, and held in position by means of a covering of some thin suitable material 12, which is stitched or otherwise secured to the base 10 as at 13. This pad is adapted to be arranged within a removable cover which may be constructed of water proof material, or any other suitable washable material, so that the cover can be quickly and conveniently removed from the pad when it is desired to wash the cover, and subsequently associated with the pad with the same ease and convenience. This cover includes two pieces of material indicated at 14 and 15 respectively, both of which have their inner edges stitched or otherwise suitably secured together as at 16, while the adjacent faces of these pieces of material are equipped with cooperating fastening elements such as shown in Figures 2 and 3. Any suitable fastening elements may be used, but I preferably secure to the piece of material 14 a. series of headed elements 17 each of which are adapted to be received by a socket member 18 which is secured to the piece of material 15.
The entire seat pad can be very cheaply constructed. manufactured and sold, and the fastening elements 17 and 18 above referred to can be arranged on the cover to permit the latter to be used with pads of different sizes if so desired. The pad proper can be easily positioned between the respective pieces 14 and 15 of the cover, and said pieces subsequently secured together by means of the snap fasteners or the like.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description. the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
What I claim is:
As a new articlev of manufacture, a portable toilet seat cushion including a card board base, a padding secured thereon, a cover for said padding and base, said cover including two pieces of material having their adjacent inner edges stitched together, to form an opening coinciding with the opening in said base, and cooperating fastening elements carried by said pieces of material at ploints beyond the outer edges of said base, w ereby can be secured together.
