MIOKAIL GREGEN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, {ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND: ANDREW DAMEDION, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN BATTLEDOORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,518, dated August 1, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MIoKAIL GREGEN, of Chicago, in the county of (look and State of Illinois, have invented an ImprovedBattledoor or Childs Toy; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and letters marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved battledoor; Fig. 2, a top view of the same 5 Fig. 3, the shuttle-cock.
The nature of the present invention consists in the novel construction of the battledoor, it consisting of an inner frame, which is made of sheet metal, and over which the leather or canvas is stretched, and of an outer clamping-band, which holds the leather to the frame, and which is provided with a handle made of bent wire, as the whole is hereinafter fully described and shown.
A represents the frame, which is arim of plate metal, provided with a'flange, B, which forms a 8111001311 surface for the leather or canvas D to bear upon without being cut or broken at the angle where the said leather or canvas is formed over the periphery of the frame A. The leather is held to the frame A by meansof a band or hoop, which is also made of metal and turned over at J, Fig.
1, so as to have a double thickness and give additional strength, rivets I being used to hold the evident that the one by me invented is a very superior article, being very cheapand durable, and possessing suitable elasticity to bat the shuttlecockin Fig. 3.
