'To aZZ whom it may concern Be itvkiiown that I, HARRY BAsEviTz, a citizen of the nited States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State 'of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Burglar-Alarm, of which the tollowing is a full, clear, and exact descrip- -I A tion.

As shown in Fig. 1, the chain is attached to a door 17 and the alarm is attached to the door jamb. llvlien the hammer is set in` the position shown in Figs. l and 4, the socket 6 can be engaged by a cartridge 18; and if an unau-v thorized entrance. is effected, the latch 1l will be-,forced out of the slot 8 permitting the springr 10 to swing the hammer against the cartridge`l thus firing the same and giving the alarm` i lVhileI have described the principle of operation.. together with the device which I now consider to be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to have it understood that the device shown is-meiely illustrative4 and that such changes may be made-as are within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A burglar alarm of the class described comprising,-a casing, a socket on one side of 'the casing adjacent the corner thereof and forming a cartridge holder, said casing having a Ushaped portion at the saine side adjacent the other corner in alinenient with the socket,l a hammer mounted to swing in the casing to and from the socket and adapted to pass into the U-shaped portion, a spring -for moving the hammer toward the socket, ca pin extending from the said hamnier through the casing whereby the same can v be moved from the socket and whereby the spring is placed under tension, a latch detachably associated with the U-shaped portion and adapted' to engage the hammer whereby the spring is maintained under tension, and means associated with the latch whereby the saine can be removed from the U-sliaped portion, thus permitting the spring to move the hammer toward the socket.
