Be it known that I, ERNEST W. SLICK, acitizen of the United States, residing at Gary, in the countyof Lake and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements --in Burglar-Alarms, of which the following is a-specification.

This invention relates to certain .novel and useful improvements in burglar alarms. In carrying "out the present invention it La. -uy purpose to provide a burglar alarm which may .1m f readily and quicklyapplied to a doo adjacent to the "keyhole thereof so that 111 the event of any one inserting a key into the-lock the alarm will be operated to advise the occupants of the protected structure of the attempted entry and which may be applied to windows so that should any one attempt to forcesuch window the alarm will be sounded. Mounted within the loop 6 and suitably fastened therein is a cork 8 or other holder and formed in the lower side of the cork 8 is a recess QB-adapted to receive the impact member 7 Also formed in the lower end of the cork contiguous to the inner end of the recess 9 is an opening 10 designed to hold the powder cap or other detonatlng element. LIWhen applying the device to a window, With the above and other objects in view cleats 12-12 are employed and fastened'to the meeting rails of the respective sash frames of the window,- and the ends of the strip 1 and the leg of the wire lying parallel with the strip engaged with the respective cleats so that in the event of attempt being made to force thewindow open the leg of the wire will be released and the cap detonated as previously described.

While'I have herein shown and described one particular form of my invention I wish it to be understood that I do not limit or confine'myself'to the precise details of construction herein described and delineated as modifications and variations maybe made within the scope of the claims and without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim i i 1. A device of the class described com-,

prising a securing strip, a length of wire coiled upon itself between its ends to forma spring and having one leg wrapped about said strip and then projected upwardly and the remaining legadapted to be held in proximity to the strip and formed to provide an impact member and a detonating element carried by the upper end'of the upwardly proiecting portion of the first mentioned leg of said wire and disposed in the path of movement of said impact member,
