The present invention relates to an improved case, which is arranged with reference to swinging the bed of the sewing-machine down into the case, the several parts being so arranged that they may be readily taken down .for shipment, as the whole is hereinafter fully described and shown.
B represents the bottom, B the ends, and C C the doors of the ease, the doors being pivoted to the projecting bottom and top. The top is formed in two parts, D O and E, which are hinged together at J, so that when the part E is folded iiat on the top of part O the said top will present a uniform appearance, as shown at Fig. 4,-the parts O E forming the continuation of molding D. The part or leaf E, when open, is supported by one of the doors C, as shown in Fig. l, nothing novel, however, is claimed in such support. The desk is composed of three parts, H I G, the part H being hinged to I at l so as to shut t0- gether, as shown at Fig. 4, and the part I is pivoted to that part of the top shown at D so as to swing to one end of the case when the sewing'- machine is to be used. K L represent the bed to which the sewing-machine is to be fastened, and which is hinged to the cabinet N so that it may be raised up through a suitable opening in that part of the top shown at O, the bed being held up by any suitable catch. The ends and back of the case arel held together and to the top and bottom by means of four rods, P, put through the corners ofthe bottom and turned into screwplates R, fastened to the under side of the top, so that by loosening the rods the several parts can be taken down for shipment.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is- The bed-pieces K L hinged to and combined with the case for swinging a sewing-machine below the top ofcase, as described.
