To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK F. LIND- STAED'I, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers-Stretchers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in trousers stretchers, one object of the invention being the provision of asupporting member capable of being flexed, and means for flexing the same to maintain the trousers stretched upon one side thereof, while at each end of the-flexing member is provided the necessary clamps to hold the trousers against longitudinal movement.

A further object of the present invention is the provision of a simple, durable and inexpensive device of this character, which is therefore practical.

With the foregoing and other objects in view and which will appear as the description of the present invention proceeds, this invention resides in the construction and combination of parts as hereafter set forth and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a front view of one form of stretcher embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof. Fig. 3 is a side view with the flexing member in flexed position. Fig. 4 is a similar view to Fig. 1 of a slightly modified form. Fig. 5 is a rear view thereof. Fig. 6 is a side with the flexing member in flexed position.

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the numeral 10 designates the flexing member, which is composed of the two sections 11 and 12, connected together by the two hinges 13.

Carried by the section 11 is the clamp 14, composed of the two members 15 and 16 and the two clamping screws 17, while carried by the section 12 at its end remote from the hinge point, is the clamp 18, composed of the two members 19 and 20 and the two clamping screws 21. Formed in the section 12 are the two parallel elongated slots through which pass the screws 21, to permit the clamping member 18 to be moved longitudinally of the member 10, according to the length or size of the trousers to be stretched. by the suit or garment hanger 25, which in turn is provided with a suspending hook 26, by means of which the complete device may be suspended.

In order to provide a means for moving the sections 11 and 12 into flexed position, or as shown in Fig. 3, a spring 27 is employed, one end being secured fast to the clamp 14, while the other end is provided with a loop 28 so that the portion adjacent may be placed into the slot 29 of the projection 30 carried by the clamp 18.

7 It will thus be seen that the trousers are first placed upon the front side of the member 10, which maybe made of sheet metal, veneer, wood, card board, paper fiber or any suitable material, and securely clamped thereon by the clamps 14 and 18. The loop 28 of the spring 27 is then placed in the slot 29, and the tension of the spring will cause the member 10 to flex, and with the trousersupon the longer side thereof, they will be stretched to the desired tautness and there be held. The coat and vest may be placed on the hanger 25, and thus the complete suit will be taken care of by the single device. 7

In the form shown in Figs. 4, 5 and 6, the two sections of the flexing member 10, are connected by the long hinge 31, by means of which the two sections 11 and 12, may be taken apart for compactness in packing. In this instance one end of the operating cord 32 is connected at 33 to the clamp 14:, and passes over the pulley 34 to the rear of the sections where it is connected to the spring 35, which is provided with the loop 36, for engagement with the slotted projection 37 of the clamp 18.

From the foregoing it is evident that a very useful and practical device for supporting a coat and vest and simultaneously stretching and holding in shape a pair of trousers is provided. Also that the present device can be made to sell at a very reasonable figure or be given away as a novelty and EIClx ertising medium by tailors, clothiers and the like. It is also apparent that the herein shown and described stretcher will efliciently stretch and press the trousers and being adjustable will take all lengths for tall, medium and short men, and that by making the flexing members in two parts that the same can be folded to occupy a small space when not in use, and when used by tourists and traveling men.

WVhat I claim, as new, is

1. A garment support, including a relatively flat member made in two sections connected together for flexing, clamps carried by said member for connecting the article to be pressed and stretched to the flat member, and resilient means for flexing and holding flexed the flat member.

2. A garment support, including a flexing member, clamps carried thereby for holding the article to be stretched and pressed upon the flexing member, and resilient means for flexing and holding flexed the flexing memher.

3. A garment support, including two flat members connected together and capable of being flexed, a trouser clamp carried by each member, one being longitudinally adjustable thereon, and resilient means for flexing and holding flexed the two members.
