E. E. H. HEINRICH.-
FOLDING SUIT HANGER.
(Application filed Nov. 13, 1900.)
(No Model.)
INVENTOR:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ERNEST EMILE HERMANN HEINRICH, OF BRUSSELS, BELGIUM.
FOLDING SUIT-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 674,557, dated. May 21, 1901. Application filed November 13, 1900. Serial No. 36,360. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST EMILE HER- MANN HEINRICH, manufacturer, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at 2 Rue Gillon, Brussels, in the Kingdom of Belgium, have invented a new and useful Folding Suit- I-langer; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same. i
The object of this invention is to provide a clothes-hanger of simple, strong, and durable construction, easily handled, and self-adjustable to the forms of coats, collars, overcoats, and the like which are adapted to be placed thereon.
The invention consists in the improved clothes-hanger and in the combination and arrangement of the various parts thereof, substantially as will be hereinafter pointed out and finally embodied in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved hanger;
and Fig. 2, a front elevation of the same, showing the hanger in partly-folded position.
In said drawings, 61 designates a center frame, preferably formed of bent wire and formed at its upper end with an elongated eye or loop f and having its extremities extend ing from said loop substantially parallel to each other and terminating the one in an eye h andthe other in a pivot h. The loop or eye f and the pivot h extend substantially at right angles to the body portion of said frame, and
the tip of the latter is introduced into the eye h, and thereby secured.
9 represents a book, which is swiveled in a bend f, formed in the loop f and extending upwardly therefrom. Said hook serves as a means for hanging the device.
On the pivot h are fnlcrumed U-shaped arms or braces a and b, these braces being likewise formed of wire and each having its extremities looped around the pivot h.
0 denotes a flexible strap or web which passes through the eye or loop f and Whose extremities are'secured to the extremities of the U-shaped arms or frames at and h. Stitching may be employed to secure the ends of the said web or strap to the arms.
In Fig. 1 are shown in dotted lines the outlines of a portion of a coat placed in position on the hanger, and it can be seen from said figure and will also be manifest to those familiar with the art that the flexible strap or Web adjusts itself to the form of the coat.
The device can be readily folded together and can thus be conveniently carried around, occupying very little space.
The clothes-hanger has been described as being made of wire; but it will be manifest that other suitable material can be used without deviating from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v A clothes-hanger consisting of a central fra'me,'an eye on one end of said frame and at right angles thereto, two arms or braces fulcrumed to the other .end of said central frame and extending in opposite directions therefrom, a flexible strap passing through the eye and secured with its free ends to the free ends of said braces, and a swivel-hook arranged on the eye, all said parts substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ERNEST EMILE HERMANN HEINRICH.
