NECKTIE-RACK.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSIAH F. lVATTS, a

subject of the King of Great Britain, and

a resident of Seattle, in the county of King and State of l/Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Racks, of which the following is a full, true, and exact specification.

My invention relates to improvements in neck tie racks and has for its principal object to provide an improved and novel form of foldable neck tie rack upon which ties not in use may be kept in a straight and unfolded position. Another object of my device is to provide the means of adjustingv the length of the rack to suit ties of different lengths.

Other objects will appear as my invention is more fully explained in the following specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of same.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, numeral 1 indicates theupper portion of the mast to which the lower mast member 2 is hinged as at 3. Secured at right angles to lower mast 2 adjacent to hinge 3 is cross arm 4. A similar cross arm 5 is similarly secured near the top of mast 1. A third cross arm 6 is slidably secured to lower mast member 2. The means of securing cross arm 6 to lower mast 2 includes a slotted guide strip 7 which is secured to the face of lower mast 2. Cross arm 6 is positioned between mast member 2 and guide strip 7 and is provided with clips 8 which fit over the edges of guide strip 7 A thumb bolt and nut 9 is secured to cross arm 6 and passes through the slot'in guide 7. By means of the thumb bolt and nut the cross arm may be clamped in any desired position along the face of lower mast 2. Cross arms 5 and 6 are each provided with a series of spring snaps 10 which are secured'to the faces of said cross arms. My device may be hung upon the wall or other convenient places when in the position shown on the draw- Speeifieation of Letters Patent.

ings, and neck ties and the like may be placed upon the rack by securing the upper ends of the ties with the snaps 10 upon cross arm 5 and the lower ends of the neck ties are secured by the snaps 10 on the lower cross arm 6. The position of cross arm 6 is adjusted to suit the length of the neck ties and hold them taut. WVhen traveling the rack may be folded about the, hinge 3 with the neck ties in place with the result that the ties take bearing near their middle point along the cross arm 4 and are thereby still held taut. My device is designed of such size and shape as to be light, convenient and easily carried in a grip or trunk.

While I have shown a particular form of embodiment of my invention, I am aware that many minor changes therein will readily suggest themselves to others skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, and I therefore desire to avoid being limited to the exact form shown and described. Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is

Claim:

A neck tie holder comprising a pair of standards hinged together at their abutting ends, a fixed cross arm near the outer end of one of the standards, a fixed cross arm on the adjacent standard next to the hinged end thereof, a slotted plate fixed to the last mentioned standard, an adjustable cross arm mounted between the slotted plate and the adjacent standard, spaced lips secured to the adjustable cross arm and overlapping the opposite side edges of the plate, a set screw extending through the slot in the plate and the movable cross arm to lock the latter in adjusted position on the standard, and neck tie holding means on the adjustable cross arm and the fixed cross arm at the opposite end of the other standard, the cross arms being of the same width, whereby when the standards are folded together the central cross bar serves as a means for holding the intermediate portions of ties held by the holding means on the end cross arms.
